    @13banger83 @MrCumbria80 @davemeltzerWON Time Warner that owned them . The AOL deal wasn’t finalized until a little over a month before WCW was sold. I’m sure the 24 months when the deal was being worked out didn’t help but AOL was buying a 150+ billion dollar company. The already failing WCW wasn’t a huge factor

    @TheMarcitect Yes. Loath tech Got an overpriced underperforming Mac in early 90s. Never used it...took a hammer to it in case I had something important on it... Hated AOL. Then the retarded Collective Made it near impossible to do normal stuff w/o a cellphone/ computer.

    @verydrearydays So, that was the case even back in the day. But they released some bangers. You had the doritoes running game on Xbox 360, 1 v 100. Before that you had Cap'n Crunches Crunchling Advanture which went absolutely hard and gave you some free AOL with it. But I do agree that games have gone down hill just as a whole since it became mainstream.

    I consider the Postal Service’s biggest failure in the early Internet era was not giving an email address to everyone. Instead, they delivered AOL CDs to people who set up an email with them. Imagine if everybody had @usps.com email address. They would have made a fortune.

    @price_dominie @wayofftheres Or the B that takes a team laptop to ANCOC and comes back with aol saved username of “whitegirllover” which may or may not have happened in the early 2000s. I was never brave enough to do anything other than wipe and reinstall a computer that a D had.

    @Masterji_UPWale Same is true for my AOL email account, which I have had since 1994. I don't use it much and have amassed a lot of junk email, but there is never any request to maintain that account or buy storage for it.

    Lately have been thinking about it. There was internet, there were computers, there were even messengers too (Yahoo, AOL, MSN etc.) and later social media as well (Orkut, OG Facebook). And then iPhone, apps, messaging etc. Everything that we have taken for granted today existed back then in some shape or form but overall the outlook was very utopian. I am sure every generation looks back at their formative years with some nostalgia, but damn mid 2000s to early 2010s was some life.

    @IndexAndForget I entered college when dial up AOL was still a household stable but the dorm had T1 over Ethernet. People were downloading songs in 30 seconds and sharing on the internal network. I knew the end of AOL was near. Other similar tech companies on the timeline recently. $AUR $JOBY
