@profgalloway For sure, Musk for all his “genius” doesn’t seem to realize proud boys don’t buy Teslas and that is the just US. Then all tangles with foreign governments around twitter effecting his ability to sell cars overseas. This is Time warner AOL on steroids of a bad purchase.

@restlesspix @j_salvo @vincentlaforet Will I be sad if it dies? Eh. If it dies, it dies. It sucks, but MySpace and AOL died. FB and IG are dying too. We rebuilt. It could be time for something different, just as AOL/MSN Messenger etc all ran their course.

@PeptoState @joinmastodon But that’s exactly what made the early net so beautiful. (and also why I miss AOL kinda) During that era where rednecks and fence-peeping grandmas had to get their kids to explain that e-mail was not the actual net, we were having a damn good time. @ValPancakes Started out with meeting fans and wrestlers on message boards and in AOL chat rooms (damn, I'm old). I became friends with a few wrestlers and promoters, and, years later, through a comedy of errors, ended up in the corner of an indie wrestler. I ended up becoming his manager...

I'm looking into Mastodon, and I can't help but realize it's effectively Fidonet with a new paint job and not having to wait 1-5 days for a response. Everything old is new again. If those damned AOL discs come back, though, I'm done.
