@imthepizzaguy_ Austin was the highest paid wrestler of all time from 1998 to 2001. Austin vs Goldberg wouldnt have had anyone complaining, considering the buyrate it would have drawn. The AOL contracts issue was way overblown. McMahon simply didnt want to prop up WCW as an equal.

@BlindUnfiltered So as long as you could sign on to your favorite BBS or to AOL, you didn't need to ever touch a URL since the service did all the indexing for you.

@mikeryan No, I wasn't interviewing him. Just sort of supervising AOL Music's interviews at SXSW. Introduced myself to him after it wrapped and said "so, uh, my cousin is 'Basic' Bill Reilly, who worked on your boat." Then we just shot the **** about that.

@IandrewDiceClay Wasn’t the issue that they had huge, bloated contracts with AOL and were making more than guys like Austin, Taker etc. in guaranteed money, and THAT was why those guys didn’t come over?

@tweetinjackleg Yahoo and AOL--yes, I said AOL--are the worst with their headlines. They know they have literally 2 seconds to grab a reader.
