@quendergeer tech brands are definitely the worst for this, especially with how ephemeral so many of them are. like, imagine a sci-fi novel from the early 00s where AOL has become the world government

@matt_k007 @Chris_SmithsJ this discussion reminds me of a strange and creepy incident that happened at least 18 years ago. I was using AOL messenger at the time, I can't remember where but I do remember talking to a young person, a teenager and she wanted me to basically be a spiritual director--

@7Veritas4 This is how I try to be in all interactions online, particularly considering I've been a denizen since AOL finally hit my region... It has gotten real, real bad though as people continue to lose that connection of there being another person on the other end of the screen.
