This was before the internet was anything other than dial-up and AOL and newsgroups, so the idea that a paper in geographic region X had to distinguish itself from a paper in geographic region Y that it's readers were never going to see was just insular and absurd.

In 1999 I created fake AOL web pages on Angelfire to steal people's credentials. It is now over 20 years later, and some things just don't change. We suck at "security awareness training." & what ******** is AOL and Angelfire, amirite?!

@DonBens7990 @Jwm8624 @chambleebrandel Wow…The hate is strong with you. If the PGAT didn’t exist, there would be another tour for players to compete. PGAT is the AOL of golf, operating on dial-up service. They took too long to upgrade. I would support any tour because I like golf, regardless of where it is played.
