@Lovelistening1 @AdamKinzinger You should never get your facts from platforms likeTwitter or aol or any news outlets. Do your own research

  • ineedtoeatpie Holly Deitz (she/her) (@ineedtoeatpie) reported

@hacks4pancakes Calling up AOL to cancel my 30 day free subscription because "there wasn't anything worth paying for" and the very kind lady asked me if I'd seen ebay. I soon had a special calendar just to keep track of sales ending and good sellers. Fantastic!

@be747 AOL chat rooms are the worst. No thanks. Those things are unreliable and full of terrors. Chatrooms are for professionals only. You're lucky if you get in touch with humans. The people there are amazing. Just say 'Hi' and they'll be happy to answer your questions.

@ElliottsLament @finnydnb @90sWWE AOL had it's own software but it still connected to the internet. when you minimized the AOL app you could just open a browser and surf the regular internet with a horrendously slow speed because the AOL software was rather demanding.

  • _GreatDelusion Dan Mitchell (@_GreatDelusion) reported

@libeltheband @JamesSurowiecki @mmfa Well, yeah, but late '90s/early 2000s is when this notion hit a tipping point and became a culturewide meme, complete with its own set of professional apologists. Nobody I knew in 1993 was talking about this crap (and very few were on AOL/Prodigy/CompuServe).

  • Bex3Moons Bex3Moons (@Bex3Moons) reported

@ditzydruid Oh for sure. Came up on AOL and AIM, geocities, Live Journal, etc. And it really is like a whole different life. Maybe it's time to embrace my old and return to the blog (and forum maybe?) roots. Those are less overtly awful, I think. Still don't know tho. It's weird.

  • emcro Emmanuel Crouvisier (@emcro) reported

@joshdholtz Ohhh having someone just filter things by importance could be a good solution. I wouldn’t wish my AOL users on you though, you’re far too kind to have to deal with those support questions (there are some real doozies!)

  • oneweekgamer Professor James (@oneweekgamer) reported

@90sWWE I still remember bad photoshops of her on porn stars because we all wanted to believe it back then on AOL 3.0.

  • paladine310 Paladine (@paladine310) reported

@CallofDuty Why is it your streamers get zero lag issues in their games and I get the constant lag even while being hardwired into my internet? My lobbies were nothing but South American players. There should be a minimum connection requirement and not AOL dialup.
