VERY proud of myself for fixing a rendering issue that was only happening in AOL Mail / Microsoft Edge and Yahoo Mail / Firefox instead of saying “who on earth is using that webmail and browser combo”

  • ashoncrawley #PettyPendergrass (@ashoncrawley) reported

i tried to find an email address that wasn’t AOL but it was too late. i never found him. (and i am not looking for him, honestly, truly.) i have so many stories like this too. so many stories of it could’ve been but what would happen if…?

  • bai0 James Baicoianu (@bai0) reported

@Avirtualfuture @dankvr AOL of course made a lot of $$$ by keeping them within their walled garden as much as possible, but the fact that they weren't just a glorified BBS, they provided a connection to something bigger, which encouraged people to explore and eventually outgrow the service

  • BCBrownell Bradley Brownell (@BCBrownell) reported from Cleveland Heights, Ohio

@MissGoElectric The internet will never take off because my AOL cds stopped working years ago.

  • refuturing Christopher S. Rice, Ph.D. (@refuturing) reported

One begins to suspect that soon the Internet begins to look a lot more like what might have happened if Prodigy/Compuserve/AOL had continued to dominate, or if AT&T had never been broken up into the Baby Bells. The consolidation of the Streamers is a harbinger of that as well. 3/

  • thejaymo A star that streams from heaven (@thejaymo) reported

Can anyone help me? I’ve read that in the early 90's 1993/94ish if you logged in to CompuServe or AOL it would have buttons options visit MUD’s, BBS’s etc AND would also have a button to visit the WWW along side them. I'm trying to find a screenshot/image of this screen.

  • TWiStEdVoODoLL A Nightmare John Elm Street (@TWiStEdVoODoLL) reported

@seanjetravers I have a horrible childhood memory where I ordered Hellraiser online back in like 2005, all the movies (except first two which I already had) and I opened Hellraiser Deader and it was an AOL free trial disc

  • leoflow_htx Leo ♌️ (@leoflow_htx) reported

  • bigdaddycrame super cool guy (handsome) (@bigdaddycrame) reported

Remember when you had to zip large files to send them. Now no one gives a **** about file size. I routinely email 40 GB attachments for no good reason other than I can do it. **** you AOL.

  • Michicanner Crystal the ______’er (@Michicanner) reported

@birkshnart @CurvesAndNerves @theholdsteady AOL instant messenger. You were probably married when that was super big.. since you’re a few years ahead of me. Or maybe I’m ahead of you? Damn I think I may be. Idk.
