@octothorpe PCPursuit wasn’t shenanigans. Totally legit service that let you use TeleNet (dial up backbone used by aol and compuserve) to make outbound calls in other regions. Was like $30/month. Now you could get to places to learn about shenanigans using it…

His passing literally broke the internet. Twitter crashed when news broke and well as Wikipedia. 1M news article were rushed out as soon as the news broke. AOL was down for almost an hour. Around 5,000 tweets per minute mentioned him. TMZ & LA times couldn’t access their website
