@cFidd @EricKleefeld I find it odd, if not curious, that the moment I hit “send” on my column that’s highly critical of the 1990s, my AOL service disconnected. Inexplicably, it will be out all decade. Never happened before. Probably just a wrinkle in time. I drove to Prodigy and sent the column.

I remember I used to read Doctor Who Online but then the guy who ran it messaged me on AOL Instant Messenger out of nowhere (this is a long ******* time ago) and tried to get me to buy **** through his affiliate links and I was so weirded out I never went back

I'm going to treat tomorrow like it is 1997 all over again and flip between AEW and NXT in commercial breaks. Also, since there was no social media back then I'm going to sign onto AOL and rage about the shows in a chatroom. After I go to Blockbuster and pick up a disk that is.

But the Dodgers for all their winning and money have won plenty of pennants there no doubting that but haven’t won the World Series since 1988. Empires have come and gone. Last year ESPN randomly locks me out of my 15 year old ESPN account tied to my AOL screen name. I'm forced to create a new login, get reinvited to all my leagues mid season - today I try signing in to my old profile and HEY WHAT'S UP EASY PEASY WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?? 😑😑

@DBashIdeas Don't recall; I only used AOL for a couple of days before I decided I didn't need their crappy front end. Spent three hours on the phone to cancel my AOL account; wound up going with an "unlimited" ISP which was $99 for a year. (A good deal back then.)

@WFPB_Is_Best @goldengateblond You are off by a decade. In the late 80’s some corporate clients of IBM had email with IBM PROFS. I worked for one of those companies. We did not have access to the WWW. For most people, email/WWW did not become available until AOL brought dialup service in the early 90s.

@aceboogie_11 @RamKaY_ @aaronrift 2 years later wouldn't have made sense. There wouldn't have been a WCW/ECW to invade WWF. The issue was that after Turner got bought out the top guys' contracts were with AOL/Time Warner rather than WCW so Vince couldn't get them for pennies on the dollar like he did the company.
