I tried to customize my Slack color scheme and it’s nothing short of appalling. Come to think of it, I never really was good at AOL color profiles, either.

I straight called AOL tech support at one point to ask them how to open a “dot ZIP” file.

  • w00t John Vantine (@w00t) reported from Oakland, California

@mygiantrobot DMX - Ruff Ryders Anthem. Pre-Napster, there were private chat rooms on AOL where people would “serve” MP3s. So painfully slow on a 14.4 kbit/s dial-up connection. Simpler times!

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

@AOL I agree. The problem is a lot of people either can't afford or have no room to store clothes. Very sad.😐

@AOL I feel bad for her. This guy wanted to cheat on his wife [ she didn't know he was married ] Then wanted to get rid of the problem when he was to dumb to use protection. 😐

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

@AOL Poor lady she tried to help. Maybe if she would have helped the student pay they would have left her alone. Very sad.🙁

  • jjsignal JJSignal™ (@jjsignal) reported from El Cerrito, California

@The_Katbot It was also the reason I managed to push my parents off of AOL and move on to a better ISP, since AOL required its launcher to be open to stay online. I think it was a common complaint. Before that, I would use Net Zero accounts until I was flagged as a "heavy user" good times.

  • SFnatives San Francisco Native (@SFnatives) reported from San Francisco, California

@stephendelong78 @CALWDA @JulieSuCA @CA_EDD #CAEDD Is a complete disaster. INCOMPETENCE. It’s like as if someone who has dial-up Internet, an AOL email account and thinks ctrl+alt+delete is tech support is running the IT programming Dept. @CA_EDD The “pending” glitches and lack of cust. service needs to end ! PUA, PEUC>PAY

  • TenantsUpstairs Natasha Vo (@TenantsUpstairs) reported from San Francisco, California

my first aol screen name was sk8rgrl91 so never had any doubt about it

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

  • airgups23 Shiv (@airgups23) reported from Lafayette, California

@AdtechGod 3 reasons I'm right: 1. The #s are going down. 2. FB has never shown they can innovate, all 'innovation' has come through acq. Gov't won't let them acq anymore. 3. Sheryl is gone and and Mark is ET. 4. Metaverse is too far away. In 2000 no one thought AOL could fail either.

  • yasSF Yasmine Scallan (@yasSF) reported from San Francisco, California

AOL! TERRIBLE! It was to mean “America On Line”! Could not keep a tech advisor complete a help request on line to resolve problems with my email. Jess said “hello, what seems to be the problem” then disappeared and I had to pay to get him on line to start! VERIZON wake up please!

  • thetylerhayes Tyler Hayes 🍩 bring donuts (@thetylerhayes) reported from San Francisco, California

@joshelman AOL was a literal life changer for me. That dial up sound may be awful but even to this day it makes me want to go back a little

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

    @AOL poor guy. He's a nice person.🙁

  • coldbeatle89 Patrick Abrams (@coldbeatle89) reported

@GAResistance93 @baldheaded1der The problem with that is because of how they were acquired- with taxes and everything involved- it will almost certainly be a corporation. Thanks a heapload AOL/Time Warner.

  • AEWFan0 Wrestling Fan (@AEWFan0) reported

@0N3L0V3 @voiceswrestling Turner was done in due to a terrible merger with AOL/Time Warner. A merger he didn’t really have a say in... Very different scenarios.

  • isaac32767 Isaac Rabinovitch ✗ (@isaac32767) reported

@CubicleApril @Foone Bear in mind that in 1995, a lot of servers were supercomputing monsters, and crashing any single one was definitely a big deal. Around then I was working at SGI and helping support an Origin 2000 with 512 CPUs that AOL had bought solely to host email.

  • Jak46Judith JAK46 🌼💐🌸 #ONEV1 (@Jak46Judith) reported

@sonoran_soul Hi Sonoran. If you tap Thomas, it should take you to an aol story with an aol story with a pic of Biden. Tap on the pic of Biden and it should open the story. Scroll down the story to the partial list. I hope this works. Not sure what to do if it doesn’t.

  • levi_yohanan Yohanan Levi (@levi_yohanan) reported

@Dani3lOon @amtvmedia So like Napster, AOL, MySpace? Really? Damn! 😨

  • ChrisSaysThis Chris. (@ChrisSaysThis) reported

If I’ve learned one thing from the amount of time I’ve spent in Central New York this year, it’s that Spectrum internet is absolutely terrible and I’m glad I don’t have to pay for it. Like, AOL dialup was more reliable.

  • antoinettelb2 Antoinette (@antoinettelb2) reported

@AOLSupportHelp I have only been able access my email via pc since I stopped being able to log in on my phone (iPhone) in February. My email has now stopped working on my PC and I can’t acces my email at all and have important emails I need to access 😔 Help

@Wheels1123 My wife did a "free trial" a few weeks ago. No sound. Tried running through my Roku. They said they are sorry, but can't fix it, & autobill starts tomorrow. Tried canceling 3 times. Like the old canceling AOL 15 yrs ago.. impossible

  • GabrielValles Gabriel Valles (@GabrielValles) reported

@isaacmorehouse Yes, you are correct but AOL was also not the best internet solution. The point is, mass adoption doesn’t happen to any tech unless they reduce user friction. Even a subpar solution will win if they are user-friendly.
