My mom controlled our AOL account when I was about 13 and would come into my room to sign me in. So, I created an entirely fake AOL login flow in Visual Basic and had her sign me in once to capture the password. Old school phishing.

  • MarcRotenberg Marc Rotenberg (@MarcRotenberg) reported

@_KarenHao Part of the history of section 230 - look at the case Blumenthal v Drudge. Judge Friedman wrote in 1998 - AOL promoted "Drudge as a new source of unverified instant gossip on AOL. Yet it takes no responsibility for any damage he may cause. "

Lmao #TwitterBlue. How many idiots are going to pay $2.99 a month. For stupid features. This is the #aol days. Jack cokehead Dorsey.

  • AuroraYGO Aurora YGO (@AuroraYGO) reported

--password. The problem is that, for some ungodly reason, it's connected to an EA account from decades ago, and an AOL email he hasn't used in 20 years that he no longer has access to. We've talked to countless support members and nothing. They ask for security things to--

  • joshbobrowsky Josh Bobrowsky (@joshbobrowsky) reported

@MigTigMusic I think things come in waves, and there is a certain truth to the more things change the more they stay the same. In short, AOL did a ton of things absolutely correct but had some bad mergers and management as time went by and yes cell phones "replaced"

  • stocktrader300 Sheldon Cooper (@stocktrader300) reported

@jasonzweigwsj I still remember AOL was such a great investment in the 90s. Seemed like it would split once a a year like clockwork until they merged with Time Warner. This list brings back a lot of memories. The IPO opening day returns in the late 90s were unreal. 100% pop was a bad debut.

I didn't do anything immediately because it says someone "attempted" to log into my dad's AOL account. But that's wrong. It wasn't an "attempt." Someone actually DID successfully log into my dad's account. Why ******** does it say "attempt" when that's not what it was? 3/6

  • jikamens (((Jonathan Kamens))) (@jikamens) reported

Good morning @AOL! Let's talk about why your account security procedures are absolute shite! My elderly father is technologically inept, so my siblings and I have our email addresses configured as recovery options on his AOL account so we can help him recover when necessary. 1/6
