AOL! TERRIBLE! It was to mean “America On Line”! Could not keep a tech advisor complete a help request on line to resolve problems with my email. Jess said “hello, what seems to be the problem” then disappeared and I had to pay to get him on line to start! VERIZON wake up please!

My mom controlled our AOL account when I was about 13 and would come into my room to sign me in. So, I created an entirely fake AOL login flow in Visual Basic and had her sign me in once to capture the password. Old school phishing.

I've started getting spam emails addressed to an email that isn't mine (my username, but @ aol instead of @gmail). I assume someone set up autoforward from an old account and got the new email wrong? Has this happened to anyone else? I'd like it to stop, obvs. Gmail folks--help?

@jjmann17 Oh man. I feel triggered. I remember at 10 y.o. trying to figure out what screenname to pick for AOL. My older brother's friend was like "ihatecheese7," and I had an existential crisis that mine would never be that cool no matter what I picked.
