AOL! TERRIBLE! It was to mean “America On Line”! Could not keep a tech advisor complete a help request on line to resolve problems with my email. Jess said “hello, what seems to be the problem” then disappeared and I had to pay to get him on line to start! VERIZON wake up please!

  • pkellner pkellner (@pkellner) reported from San Francisco, California

@julielerman @AOL My dad asked me once why his computer was so slow. He said he had bought some software from Nigeria for a great deal that was suppose to speed it up.

  • davidbyttow David Byttow (@davidbyttow) reported from San Francisco, California

My mom controlled our AOL account when I was about 13 and would come into my room to sign me in. So, I created an entirely fake AOL login flow in Visual Basic and had her sign me in once to capture the password. Old school phishing.

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

@AOL I feel bad for her. This guy wanted to cheat on his wife [ she didn't know he was married ] Then wanted to get rid of the problem when he was to dumb to use protection. 😐

  • mrjasonroy Jason Roy (@mrjasonroy) reported from San Francisco, California

@jpawgmafia Downloading the STATE logos off of AOL online and printing them up and putting them in my room. That aged the **** out of me.

@AOL I agree. The problem is a lot of people either can't afford or have no room to store clothes. Very sad.😐

  • espi espi (@espi) reported from San Francisco, California

I tried to customize my Slack color scheme and it’s nothing short of appalling. Come to think of it, I never really was good at AOL color profiles, either.

@JenniferRaff I remember how bad AOL was and how I deleted it before my free trial was up.

  • The_DoctorO Darren Owen (DrO | WACUP) (@The_DoctorO) reported

@TeslaTurtle @engineers_feed As the AOL era was 1999-2013 & covered 2.5 (when it went free from being shareware) through to 5.666 as well as Winamp3, when did it go crap? Am genuinely interested as I see this comment a lot but without any context on the version(s) where it suddenly becomes "crap".

  • attorneydad attorneydad (@attorneydad) reported

I just tried to tell my kids about the high hourly price of AOL dial-up “internet” in the 1990s, but then I realized my highest monthly bill (sorry mom) was probably a little less than I pay every month without much complaint for cable internet

  • ursita2010 Ursita Gravril (@ursita2010) reported

@AOLSupportHelp It is a shame what your support is

  • Strikerslash Victoria | Stella Simp (@Strikerslash) reported

the fact that the internet has become so much easier to use and communicate through for people without as much literacy as people who started with AOL is a good thing and pretending that we had to walk uphill in the snow both ways and thus so must new users is stupid

  • TheBrofucius Brofucius: The Meanie Head. (@TheBrofucius) reported

@TheMicheleWojo Kids today do know the struggle of trying to get on AOL and hearing the modem.....Then.....Goodbye. DAMN IT!

  • TGGabller Insurrectionist (@TGGabller) reported

@Timcast Your problem is you think that this will always be the norm, that nothing will change. Who predicted the fall of AOL? The rise of Google? The market fluctuates, and the solution is for people to recognize their power over it, rather than beg government to be their parents.

  • Antiproton_com Ishtar ☢ Anti-Protons😷🏳️‍⚧️🌈ENBY🍎🍑🍋🍏🫐🍆 (@Antiproton_com) reported

@skyintist I think I did too... I had an email from my dork tiny ISP, but I never used it. Never used AOL, oddly. I always avoided them like the plague lol

  • CharMemeznabel Joe Yabookee (@CharMemeznabel) reported

@princessberpl Funny story, when I was very young I was in a kids only AOL chatroom and people kept saying ASL? and my dumb *** was like Why does everyone keep saying *******??? Got my whole family banned from AOL
