AOL! TERRIBLE! It was to mean “America On Line”! Could not keep a tech advisor complete a help request on line to resolve problems with my email. Jess said “hello, what seems to be the problem” then disappeared and I had to pay to get him on line to start! VERIZON wake up please!

I tried to customize my Slack color scheme and it’s nothing short of appalling. Come to think of it, I never really was good at AOL color profiles, either.

My mom controlled our AOL account when I was about 13 and would come into my room to sign me in. So, I created an entirely fake AOL login flow in Visual Basic and had her sign me in once to capture the password. Old school phishing.

If I removed all of the screws of a 56k dialup modem and re duct taped it back together. Cut the phone line and used electrical tape to repair the wires, and then dialed up into an AOL landline… it would still perform better than the entire @0xPolygon network. #IJS.

@LanceStorm It'll end up like AOL in the 90s where you have to call in to cancel, then have them try and keep you

@DataAngel IRC is actually still good if you are there just for tech channels (on Libera Chat network). All the non-tech people left a long time ago though of course, to AOL/MSN Messenger and all that came after.

@davewiner Everyone behaves like the current thing everyone uses is too big to fail. Bullshit. Microsoft, although dominant, is nothing like they were in the 90s. Many people don't remember AOL. Zuck is quickly killing FB. Everything dies and is replaced. Everything. Including Twitter.
