  • davidbyttow David Byttow (@davidbyttow) reported from San Francisco, California

My mom controlled our AOL account when I was about 13 and would come into my room to sign me in. So, I created an entirely fake AOL login flow in Visual Basic and had her sign me in once to capture the password. Old school phishing.

@stephendelong78 @CALWDA @JulieSuCA @CA_EDD #CAEDD Is a complete disaster. INCOMPETENCE. It’s like as if someone who has dial-up Internet, an AOL email account and thinks ctrl+alt+delete is tech support is running the IT programming Dept. @CA_EDD The “pending” glitches and lack of cust. service needs to end ! PUA, PEUC>PAY

  • espi espi (@espi) reported from San Francisco, California

I tried to customize my Slack color scheme and it’s nothing short of appalling. Come to think of it, I never really was good at AOL color profiles, either.

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

@AOL I agree. The problem is a lot of people either can't afford or have no room to store clothes. Very sad.😐

AOL! TERRIBLE! It was to mean “America On Line”! Could not keep a tech advisor complete a help request on line to resolve problems with my email. Jess said “hello, what seems to be the problem” then disappeared and I had to pay to get him on line to start! VERIZON wake up please!

@AshokSGarcha @P_I_N_T @NadiaMuradBasee This photo op is your excuse for helping pan-Islamists suffocate Yezidi voices even in Canada? When Yezidis came to India they acknowledged the help given by Hindu organisations like AoL. I am in touch with Yezdis in the US. Bo mention of “Khalsa Aid” help.

  • DeathReveals Prostate Puncher (@DeathReveals) reported

The internet back then was so fascinating. Hearing that dial-up tone was like having your mind gaped open by a tool, as you could now access all sorts of knowledge on things you never knew existed. I'd spend hours talking with strangers in AOL chat rooms.

  • suevon Sue Vonderhaar (@suevon) reported

@GottaWakeUpPlz I’m seeing this more and more, too. My AOL email inbox had a strip of “Let’s Go Brandon” T-shirt ads next to it, and I’m seeing many “Recommended for you” right-wing articles on my Facebook feed. I do NOT click on such garbage. The algorithms are whacked.

  • johncecilprice johncecilprice (@johncecilprice) reported

@MatthewVeasey @PhillyInquirer @Sears They were majority owners in Prodigy, the precursor to AOL. But they had no idea how to market or develop that venture in dial up modem days. I worked for Sears, 88-93, Neshaminy Mall at their service ctr, all while a college student. They saw Walmart coming as far bk as 89 but..

@Ty_in_TX @TEWFuller @DaddyWarpig I was never on AOL, but I *was* on an early Commodore 64 paid service called QuantumLink (QLink) in the mid-1980s. In 1989, after ups & downs (& having come out with versions for other platforms like the PC), Quantum changed its service name to America Online.
