@flyingwide My parents got it for me, but I sorta hated it and never used it. I ended up teaching myself to type when I got on AOL messenger several years later; hunt & peck wasn't fast enough so I learned out of pure necessity. (I probably type some letters "incorrectly" but whatever?)

@mgnayak5 Before the government, we citizens can do our part and delete our accounts. Once people leave in hordes , advertisers will follow . That’s how AOL , MySpace , Yahoo came down to its knees . Dump their stocks , dont invest .

I've started getting spam emails addressed to an email that isn't mine (my username, but @ aol instead of @gmail). I assume someone set up autoforward from an old account and got the new email wrong? Has this happened to anyone else? I'd like it to stop, obvs. Gmail folks--help?

And just to follow up, In 2000, "Big Tech" was AOL, Yahoo, Hotmail and MySpace. They are all either dead or so deeply on life support that their kids are creeped out looking at them and make excuses not to visit. Big Tech of 2021 is not immune to competition or the same fate.

I don't use Facebook, I'm now considering what I do with WhatsApp... but just to comment having chatted with my wife... WTF is up with Facebook design? It's like using AOL back in the 90s. Visual garbage everywhere.

Seems very apparent that AOL is poor app to the real, news. They only publish what they care and not what the majority has to say
