  The exact cause of the fire that destroyed the historic former church at East 55th Street and Central Avenue in Cleveland on August 21, 2026, is still under investigation. What We Know About the Fire - Time and Place: The two-alarm fire started around 2 a.m. at the vacant building. Gas Status: Officials stated that the gas service to the building had been turned off for a long time. Building History: The structure was built in the late 1890s—initially as a Jewish synagogue before serving as the Friendship Baptist Church for decades. Prior Issues: Police had responded to reports of break-ins and vandalism at the empty property over the years. According to an AOL report, no injuries were reported, but the 100-year-old structure suffered a catastrophic collapse of its wooden interior and is considered a total loss.

  I miss ragebaiting peeps on AOL with my parents desktop computer those were the days. Poor fellows didn't even know they were arguing with an 8 year old urchin

  @BrianRoemmele I was working for NyNex in NYC and installed some of the first residential ISDN data lines. Years later, folks started using dial-up internet service after getting AOL cd's in the mail. Then we graduated to DSL and thought the future is here! It's funny looking back at it all.

To compete with broadband, AOL thought it needed something it didn’t yet have: World-class content. A merger with Time Warner would give AOL access to some of the most valuable media properties in the world. Together, they believed they could dominate the future of the internet.

  I’ve come to realize that Facebook is the AOL of social media. Horrible app developers. Probably hired them all from AOL.

  @pizzahut I really don’t know how a powerhouse corporation loses its standing. Cutting costs on supplies, overextending locations, hiring a new ad company, promotional programs that managers can’t really work- but Pizza Hut is following the pathway of Toys R Us, Blockbuster and AOL. I’m going to avoid my usual florid word choices and just tell you, I paid almost $70.00 for a recent delivery. It was 45 minutes late. The Food was room temperature. 2 Cold drinks were missing. And a dessert item was doubled. BTW can anyone tell me what a delivery cost is? And why would the drivers tip default to 18%? Tips are to insure promptness. It didn’t work this time. The driver was not really an employee, she was hired on by another company and could offer no explanation except - “This is what they gave me.” Along with, “Sorry it’s late.” And, “You can go on the website and let them know”. Going back on that wonky website is the last thing I wanted to do, I’d almost rather eat room temperature food and apologize to my buddies for the poor culinary turn out. I called the store, but no one would talk to me ( it just rang ) so here I am letting all you fine people in cyber space know about it. A loss of quality control is sometimes accidental, but I also think it’s because the employees really don’t care. I’d guess further that the employees don’t care because they think their bosses don’t care.

  @MrBurnsLovesYou AOL days when I was a YW (young ****** age 12) i'd message chicks I didnt know that id pee in their butt. Im back on that **** now.

  @ThisOldTech2 As a computer user since '94, I'm trying to figure out why I never got a browser in a box. of course, I did access the Web through AOL at the beginning. 🤔
