Y’all probably aren’t aware that service members and their families use whatsapp and FB messenger to chat/video w/ each other when they’re overseas because using cellphone data is stupid expensive either, huh? Whew! Y’all reek.

"Phones can call phone numbers, you don't need facebook messenger/whatsapp" I come from Australia and moved to Wales. My whole family is in Australia. I made a call to Australia on my mobile phone to deal w/ a banking issue once. I was directed to that number through my bank app

@nathan_k There is also a problem of trusting the services consuming the content. e.g. signal v.s fb messenger. It could potentially be like someone that is not in your contact's list on FB requesting to send you a message, etc.

@Stonekettle I use the Facebook messenger only to maintain a few contacts. I was barely affected by the outage but the fear of its implication was palpable for me. I can’t imagine how many folks were feeling as if just blowing in the wind for that time. As for zoom…I can answer a call.

A warning about @Facebook messenger: if someone is added to your group chat, they’ll be able to see the ENTIRE history, & will CONTINUE to see it even if you remove them. And there is no way to delete a chat history. Learned this with 29 adds to a 4 yr old chat. Terrible design.

@CinnamonMelody2 @handmadebyjaia @lostblackboy Idk as I’m currently not there but many others don’t have it. We couldn’t message a vet or anything yesterday to help save my dog and relied on possibly expired pills to do it. It doesn’t matter if one has it if you can’t reach anyone else. It’s WhatsApp or fb messenger there.
