@invisibleeswift wth that’s crazy. Pretty much all phone plans here come with unlimited texting and almost everyone I know has an iPhone so if they don’t have service you can iMessage with your home internet on the same app. People who don’t where I live usually use Facebook messenger though

@munin It's likely true, just without the detail. A configuration/code change ... caused a withdraw of all BGP announcements, and they couldn't roll back. Their internal communication (FB Messenger for FBers) was down. Keystone kops for hours to get physical access and revert by hand

@ewaynebarber Apparently it's my fault....the delay built into the COVID booster I received 10 days ago brought down FB, WhatsApp, Instagram and FB Messenger. Got this from a reliable source online. I kinda feel bad about it but on the other hand, awesome!!

@jgrahamc I can still search fb on the internet on computer, it comes up. I still have it on my phone, fb search works, I can post to my timeline, fb messenger works I can post to myself. It's not down at all for me. Neither is Insta.

@llmunro It's used widely by businesses large, small, and micro here in the Netherlands. I communicate with most of my friends and family scattered across the world using it, and to a lesser extent FB messenger. The outage made for a very lonely and unproductive few hours.
