Every time instagram gives me a notice to update and merge private messages with Facebook messenger I am 🤏🏻 this much closer to deleting everything and only communicating through the postal service exclusively.

A warning about @Facebook messenger: if someone is added to your group chat, they’ll be able to see the ENTIRE history, & will CONTINUE to see it even if you remove them. And there is no way to delete a chat history. Learned this with 29 adds to a 4 yr old chat. Terrible design.

@tapairportugal . What is this for a client service ? Your website crashes , you don’t answer neither on Facebook messenger nor Twitter. You cancelled my flights last year and forced me getting vouchers instead of a reimbursement. Now that I want to use they don’t work…

That Facebook owns WhatsApp flies under the radar too. It’s obvious that Facebook owns Facebook Messenger, but less so they own WhatsApp. I have a hunch people didn’t realize Facebook owned WhatsApp until their services were down simultaneously. This, too, seems disingenuous.

@mkeallison @swodinsky RCS wouldn't solve the "disconnected address servers" problem. FB Messenger needs to be able to route to Skype and vice versa. You need a ... a network of networks ... a sort of ... inter-net?

Something I don't remember seeing anyone saying: when Facebook went down and the employees couldn't communicate with each other via Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp... did anyone think to just... call each other's phone numbers...? Or... send an SMS?

@Stonekettle I use the Facebook messenger only to maintain a few contacts. I was barely affected by the outage but the fear of its implication was palpable for me. I can’t imagine how many folks were feeling as if just blowing in the wind for that time. As for zoom…I can answer a call.

@lostblackboy This was exactly my problem. My mom and I communicate thru fb messenger or WhatsApp, we couldn’t talk all day and she is elderly and not in good health. We did use email but it’s not the same.
