@BbcBring In NI there is potential to work with RTÉ to have RTÉ2 share with CBBC in replace of its TRTÉ/RTÉjr service. Even to put RTÉ2 +1 on Freeview there with CBBC sharing when its not on the air.

  • eloiseaa728 eloise angharad (@eloiseaa728) reported

@kennysmith21 @beffybadbelly No, on widely available freeview (i.e not on the local mux where tinypop lives) there are two: Pop (Arq A) and CITV (SDN), under the impression only CITV is in a similar market (age group) and is not a particularly good service… There is a reason CBBC dominates.

  • Livalab Mary Stuart (@Livalab) reported

@arthistorynews We use what my OH calls the Council TV ie Freeview. (Refuse to pay R Murdoch or his crew any money) if they would leave it in a position where you could find it then that would help. Every retune seems to put it to a another Spot. Tv licence due for renewal as well.

Is it true the BBC are shutting down Radio 4 Extra? That channel (automated jukebox of old Radio 4/2 spoken word content) costs next to nothing to keep on DAB/Freeview.

@mawju5 the worst era was before i had freeview. just 5 sad channels so ghetto😭 they would put on like 2 hrs of cbbc and that was it skjsjsnsns i sufferedd

  • Pic889 Dimitris (@Pic889) reported

@gerardjasper This begs the question: Since you can't receive the entirety of BBC's broadcasts through generic DVB-T2 equipment (you need a special "Freeview HD" receiver), why not encrypt the service and give subscribers a CAM module to watch it? Let's see how many really want to pay for it.

  • Enlightenmentor Steve Cowie 🌠 (@Enlightenmentor) reported

@TalkTV Is there any reason why your Freeview transmission is so poor quality? It looks like YouTube 240P25 upscaled.

  • JulesPowis Jules Powis 🌻 (@JulesPowis) reported

BBC3's audience is all online. Going linear won't help it's terrible ratings. BBC4's target demographic are all linear consumers. Killing-off BBC4 to keep BBC3 on Freeview makes absolutely zero sense.

@A_Liberty_Rebel @MargotLJParker @CatharineHoey Why not have low resolution & mono sound (with expensive sports/etc events replaced by old films) on the Freeview service, and HD & stereo of full repertoire on paid services?
