I was very happy with the PAYG service I had from @giffgaff, and did not want to change, but it was that or a surcharge.

John Woods (@Yorksims) reported@Fraulein_Kunst @giffgaff You can't stop it because the voicemail system runs at the network level so you can block a number from calling/texting your phone but not from leaving voicemail on the giffgaff servers. The only solution is to switch off your voicemail by dialling 1626
