The police is a boys club and the whole service needs a review. This is not a new problem we just seem to circle on one issue and focus on that whilst forgetting about the others!

According to imdb this is the worst rated episode of all time (show has been going since 1997). The director has a twitter account you'll instantly see the issue if you go there.
