    @AskNationwide trying to stop a direct debit that’s going out today; the app says call you but your lines are closed? Tried your messaging service but no response. Can you advise please?

    A Nationwide spokeswoman said: "As a result of extremely high volumes of transactions on the first working day of the year we took the decision to temporarily queue inbound faster payments. Strange that other banks aren't effected @AskNationwide

    @AskNationwide Please can you rectify this issue soon as, preferably before the days up, I have no food in my cupboards and now I cant pay out any of my direct debits meaning I will have to pay late fees due to your incompetent company

    @Casper19171 @AskNationwide I would like to think we would but, given , the stock template answers put out by customer services today I would safely say they won’t! I needed to get groceries and petrol today, not able to get either because of this fiasco of a joke

    @Tmcg12340 @AskNationwide It's bad enough what state folk are left in without access to money without them adding insult to injury by saying they make provision for vulnerable people. Your absolutely right, bet the boss doesn't struggle to access his £500 a day expenses.x
