@AskNationwide She really needs to speak to someone in the UK, preferably Scotland who can help her speed things up. Someone who will not fob her off with excuses of technical issues and jargon.

@AskNationwide my daughter is trying to arrange a mortgage with Nationwide. It’s taking too long (4 weeks so far!) they keep telling her there is a problem with the IT system. I think someone has screwed up. Should she go elsewhere for her mortgage? 1/2

Bit of unexpect cash today - £62 to be precise from @AskNationwide 15 years ago the Mister opened a cashbook account at Nationwide in Edinburgh to deposit some cash when his dad died on behalf of his nephew who was out of country but left it by his Grandad. It was in there for a couple of years Eventually he returned to Scotland and the Mister gave him the cash his dad (nephews grandad) wanted to leave it - the account was at 0 Today ..... text from Nationwide to his number saying they had post returned to them and needed to speak to him about his account - he doesn't even have the passbook Couldn't use the automated service was we had no account number to hand and it kept cutting him off and saying it couldn't help without one. Decided to ring using my credentials as I have a current and savings account with them. I went through security and then explained about his text and asked if it was genuine and put his on the phone He have his address in Newcastle ..... nope .... EH6 they said ..... it was that far back and he gave them his old address in Leith. Bingo Turns out that the 0 became about a tenner in an interest payment the following year and it's earned interest ever since and it's now at £62 and a few pennies The letter was to say that his passbook account was now a sort code and account number, like a current account and was returned in the post. We've got the details and tomorrow he can log in and claim that little bit of cash Thanks Nationwide

@AskNationwide Would not recommend using the Nationwide direct for a mortgage. Problems caused by their own IT system have held up the application which are having a knock-on effect with the process. No real help from the helpline. Rubbish

@JLP_officialxxx @AskNationwide I'm no expert but might they put a CIFAS marker by your name (and anyone they think you are linked to) making it difficult to bank elsewhere? I would cooperate then close it and tell them to **** off.
