  @SigniusNetworks @PippaCrerar @Annaisaac Except he did meet the criteria. NatWest CEO Alison Rose had to resign due to her serious error after discussing Ferage's bank details with the BBC. The NatWest will have learned their lesson.

  Just moved another £3,000 into my NS&I Premium Bonds. It came from money sitting in my NatWest account that I kept dipping into whenever I needed it. I’ve now only got around £1,000 left in that account, with another £2,000 salary due tomorrow. The idea is simple: if the money isn’t sat in my current account, I’m less tempted to transfer it back and spend it. Sometimes the best financial decisions aren’t about earning a higher return-they’re about making it harder to spend. Has anyone else changed the way they organise their money to help them save more?

  I’ve contacted via email, dm and many phone calls. Each member of staff passes you onto another and lies. It’s clear why NatWest branches are closing down.

  @ukboomers 1983 and my long standing bank manager turned down my loan application. Went to house builder and put a £100 deposit on a 2 bed semi then he called NatWest and I got accepted that day. Six weeks later got the keys. Easy peasy

  @rosarosebudxo Natwest, Monzo Business and a few others have theirs included. Id avoid Quickbooks as its awful. Had to switch to their MtD compliant version from Self Employed model and its shiiiiit.

Pros Higher borrowing power — High income earners can access larger mortgages, which helps in expensive markets like London where property prices are high. More competitive offering — NatWest becomes more attractive to wealthy buyers who might otherwise go to specialist lenders. Useful for joint high earners — Couples earning £150k+ combined can stretch further to buy homes in premium areas. Potentially better rates — The article notes NatWest often has best buy rates, so borrowers may get both a high LTI and a good interest rate. Cons Higher financial risk — Borrowing 6.5x income is a big commitment. If interest rates rise or income drops, repayments can become stressful. Lower LTV allowed — To borrow at 6.5x, you must have at least a 25% deposit. That’s a huge barrier for many people. Only for high earners — This doesn’t help average income buyers struggling with affordability. It widens the gap between who can and can’t buy.
