@ABridgen Absolute garbage. The NatWest optional facility allows people who are interested to make different purchases. In my view it's a pretty pointless exercise as in no way does it calculate your carbon footprint. There is therefore no chance of it having any freedom or privacy issues.

That day I literally vowed never to use NatWest again. What a **** bank. Because the way I was crying outside my workplace that day. I just wanted a stupid meal deal 😭😭

@LeilaniDowding Er.... **** em off for another bank for now! If lots of NatWest customers did that they would crash and send a signal to the others...

@NatWest_Help please help. Filling in Universal Mandate to become signatory. It’s asking for my personal bank account details. I don’t have a personal bank acct with NatWest? Confused.

@redpilldispensr I received this from NatWest, which is probably the worst bank I have ever dealt with. You must not take this disrespect. This is your money. I migrated to Lloyds nearly 20 years ago, and I have never had a problem since. I have been out of the country for the last six years. And between me noticing my account had been compromised and Lloyds swinging into action, they caught the hacker and reinstated me with professional precision.

@AliceUK25 @ABridgen Most UK banks like Santander, Lloyds, and Barclays do not offer personal carbon footprint tracking tied to customer spending transactions. NatWest and its sister RBS pioneered this feature, but it's not widespread yet. Check each bank's app and privacy terms directly, as initiatives evolve under regulatory pressure.

Sir Kier Starmer loathe as I am to give you advice, consider taking stuff like this, going up to a podium, and saying e.g. "The c-suite of Natwest, which taxpayers bailed out at great expense, will eat **** and thank us for it". It cant lead to *worse* polling can it

@JamesPGoddard90 Must be a slow news day. This has been an option for NatWest account holders since 2021.

@GaryKThompson71 @premnsikka Top UK banks by assets: HSBC, Barclays, Lloyds Banking Group, NatWest Group, and Santander UK. HMRC reports the banking sector paid £9.3 billion in corporation tax for FY 2023-24, up from prior years, though individual bank figures vary—Barclays paid £2.9 billion in taxes globally in 2024 per its report. Banks often highlight total contributions (£44.8 billion including employee taxes) when opposing rises but downplay subsidies like £22 billion annual QE interest payments and deposit guarantees, viewing them as stability mechanisms rather than undue support.
