Aidan (@Y0urOn1yFreND) reported@S_Berry_82 @playnewworld All the content is great! It didnt launch half baked. The issue is that the content did not keep people playing after they finished it. Thats obviously very bad for an MMO
-
Kamil Wójcik (@kamonke22) reported@DidItMyWayYT @playnewworld bro discovered game as a service xD Should have read the terms of agreement before accepting.

Brandon 🦅⭕️ (@bswagz88) reported@JexonHP @playnewworld It’s not about being cheap. It’s about transparency and consumer fairness. The devs clearly knew content development was winding down, that S10 was likely their last gasp, yet continued selling store items and DLC with no disclosure that the game was entering maintenance mode. That’s not equivalent to buying a movie ticket — it’s paying into a live service under the impression it’s ongoing. The ethics change dramatically when the service is knowingly winding down. Your argument hinges on false equivalence — comparing a complete, self-contained entertainment product (i.e., a movie or single-player game) with an ongoing live-service ecosystem that’s ending. A better analogy would be purchasing season tickets for your favorite sports team only to find out midway through the season that the team is dissolving the following season and during that next season the team won’t be playing any games — yet you can continue showing up to the stadium to purchase merch and food from the concession stands. There’s no perfect analogy for this sort of situation which is why GaaS are incredibly exploitative.

David Fedor (@DavidFedor6) reported@playnewworld So basically they are shutting the servers down at the end of 2026 but still allowing people to make in game purchases of their "premium" currency. Unreal.
-
Lemmonnnn (@Lemmonnnn13) reported@playnewworld Right after the release of nighthaven? I mean, what ******** are we to do with gold cursed coconuts? This is actually bullshit because I’ve put thousands of hours into this broken *** game and I’ve stayed by AGS’s side since release, only to be betrayed like, this. Wtf man
-
Hom Tuese (@TueseH) reported@andrewshark91 @playnewworld You obviously misunderstood the meaning of live service. It's a model to service money out of you while the game's alive (usually for the first 2 weeks)
-
CptShooter (@CptShooter) reported@playnewworld The game had its moments. But the persistent failure to acknowledge the game's major systemic issues and the reluctance to fix them killed it. The constant creation and merging of servers instead of system overhauls was just one of the things that turned me off.
-
Doctor Destix (@doctordestix) reported@SometimesClutch @ShultsyPlays @playnewworld Not correct. Guild Wars 2 doesn’t have a sub and is still running. There are other games that function this way as well. The problem is that they botched the launch and damaged their image. Which I may add is the most important problem.

Rayleightt (@rayleightt) reported@playnewworld We spent real money on New World. Amazon released a major update just 1 month before shutting the game down. That’s not service ending that’s misleading players into spending more. This deserves refunds or compensation. #NewWorld #AmazonGame
-
TacitSpider (@TacitSpider) reported@playnewworld Seems to be the new trend now with "online service only" games. Remember that all of the money you spend on these games has a 100% guarantee that when the game inevitably DOES SHUT DOWN... you not only lose your time but ALL of the money you invested in the game. 🤑
-
Verlis (@Verliswolf) reported@StevenJSharif @amazongames @playnewworld New World is my favorite MMO of all time. After the first major updates a lot of launch problems were fixed and it became the best MMO that kept getting better but wasn't given a second chance
-
FringedWig46 (@FringedWig46) reported@playnewworld Ngl this hurt me more then the cs2 crash 😭
-
cogolloQuemado (@fideosConTuc0__) reported@playnewworld Will you release the base code and server configs so the community can host custom and private servers? It would be at least the best move for players who stuck around and kept buying in-game currency even when the game was empty and broken.
-
Mithraic_Path_of_Dharma (@MithraicDharma) reported@playnewworld Honestly you had a great game, could have kept it going if you adjusted the monetization model. Live service games always have me worried about bug companies just walking away.
-
Seebs (@seebsuu) reported@hammerify @LSXYZ9 @playnewworld All of this is so untrue haha. It’s an MMO, and comparatively, the grind was not bad at all. And if you were in an opposing faction territory…. Just go to one of your own if it’s that bad. I never had an issue of getting killed on repeat.
-
Kqbleb (@kqbleb) reported@whaitowo @playnewworld No it isnt. The game already lost a lot of players and they didnt even fix m3s for the people that stayed. Devs not lazy just unaware
-
Panciako (@AntyPanciak) reported@playnewworld Ok set game to f2p for rest of service
-
TheMightyBaloon (@TheMightyBaloon) reported@LSXYZ9 @playnewworld also the issue with the game have lost visibility isn't because no hype but because it was ******* mismanaged and buggy as ****
-
Olexander Kozynets (@Alex_Kozinets) reported@MMORPGcom @playnewworld There were many talented people, but still: The game engine was rubbish Overall game was a buggy mess that they couldn't fix The game had no vision of tge playing loop Decisions and changes lacked consistency and were constantly contradicting previous changes It was inevitable
-
Fora di Contexto 🗣️ (@ForaDiContexto) reported@playnewworld The game is unplayable right now. I've been playing since the new content was released, and in about two hours today I've crashed eight times without making any changes to my computer or game settings. FIX YOUR GAME!
-
Enomao (@Enomao86) reported@NyceGamingYT @playnewworld We have to unsubscribe from any Amazon service we have contracted as a form of complaint. And in the reasons section, put closure "New World : Aeternum"
-
akito (@akitoshaoku) reported@lDkayyl @towelthetank @playnewworld That's the problem that he doesn't want to acknowledge. He's virtue signaling to sign petitions and "show amazon we want New World" but then is on WoW streaming instead. This is the new Culturally trendy thing that gets eyes on him but not on the real issue.
-
WhitePhosphor 🇺🇸 (@MTNJaeger) reported@playnewworld @amazon never using your service again and sure as hell won’t be touching an AGS game moving forward. Shady business practice with this choice. You guys really suck!
-
Fat Tony (@FatManinavan) reported@playnewworld Thousands of hours invested in this game. Sad sad days. By far my favorite mmo of all time. Even with the many issues. Played since day 1
-
Steven The Heathen (@StevenHeathen) reported@RinoTheBouncer @playnewworld And I hope Amazon sells it to someone who can take it over. It had its issues, and there were things I really wanted to see change, but NW has flashes of greatness and there's no reason why this game should go down.
-
Shultsy 👾 (@ShultsyPlays) reported@BagginsTV @playnewworld What profit? The game made zero money in 5 years? I'd pull the plug too. This was the same dev team the entire life cycle. Same leadership except homeboy left. They had 5 years of free reign from Amazon and failed. That's a development problem that led to a corporate problem.
-
JJ Gloom (@kinoandnectar) reported@Verliswolf @playnewworld **** was a broken mess from the start
-
ᛏᚱᛁᛋᛏᚨᚾ 💍 (@tcubd) reported@Sensiblelogic06 @S_Berry_82 @playnewworld 50k peak this month. If player numbers were a problem it would have been canceled when it was averaging 8k months over month 3 years ago. Stop defending corporate greed.
-
**** ICE Forever (@noshpan) reported@towelthetank @playnewworld Despite issues at first, I stuck with it. And, I must say that I certainly got my money's worth, what with the 770+ hours I've invested into the game. It's my cozy game. I enjoy leveling my gathering & crafting skills. And it's a shame that it'll sunset next year.
-
Ziang (@Ziang85045937) reported@RealLucarioTV @NyceGamingYT @playnewworld Nah not every. FF14 is alive. Gw2 is alive. ESO is alive. Problem is...the game just had too many problems. I played it myself at launch and i bit my *** that my friends kept me over 2 hours so i couldn't refund on steam...it was just not that good...maybe it changed but...well
