Or if you are on a really really old ADSL connection (like I was at Longleat), then I kept getting locked into a very low BRAS profile and it would stay at 1-2 MBs for weeks and slowly climb

They have completely taken advantage of 2 vulnerable people in their 70's, refuse to let them cancel despite an awful service. Waiting for my complaint to be answered since Feb. She's currently paying £37 for ½Gbit (500Mb/s).500Mb/s is 62.5MB/s, ~7.5x FASTER. Why would she want to switch to an ISP offering worse speeds? Didn't realise such pathetic speeds were still being offered.
