@helengrantsays @santanderuk They do, but they also have a legitimate argument for negligence because she went in knowing the security was down. It's not right, but we all know that banks don't like paying out money if they can squirm their way out of it.

@MorganBroadcast Try you and yours, BBC RADIO 4 consumer programme. I'm a @santanderuk customer seriously thinking if it's wise to remain so.

@helengrantsays @santanderuk I know it was her card PIN, and you have to go through a lot of security hoops to change a PIN even if you get into the banking app, which you need the login details for. I'm not defending the bank at all, I agree they've screwed up, but some of this doesn't make sense.

@MorganBroadcast Similar happened to my friend in July. Card etc stolen from gym, thief somehow got access to pin. @santanderuk totally unhelpful. Kept stupidly sending info to stolen phone. Rude to my friend, treated her like a criminal despite immaculate banking record.

@MorganBroadcast How awful for you! And for it to happen to someone who has applied all the rules around pins and passwords is kinda scary. @VirginActiveUK and @santanderuk should be ashamed of themselves. They should be doing everything to help you and prevent this from happening to others

@drclairetaylor @santanderuk @bancosantander Utterly pants and somewhat bizarre. Even with my basic knowledge of IT security, having access to the PIN like that is totally bonkers.

@agegarton @MorganBroadcast @santanderuk Having worked in call centres, there are lots of hard working customer service staff. No question. There are also staff who don't give a damn about customers and just want hit their targets and get to the end of their shift with as little hassle as possible.

@Sue_Pook @santanderuk If it helps I'm with Nationwide. They are constantly checking I'm me even with the regular monthly stuff. It's usually via the phone app though, so I'm not sure it would have helped here. But app access is locked to fingerprint/PIN that is different to the card PIN?
