I committed to my contract on the basis I would be sent a temp router to cover my period in between contracts. The customer service team are now confused as to what I mean.

I cant even try and take a cheaper option with "leasing" the phone as you say and adding a sim only deal. Great way to lose an 11 year relationship with a customer. Sales offering shocking deals too.
