@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK My friend had a fairly similar experience with another company. It’s awful! Especially if the company concerned does not have a bereavement team which I think is so important! I have a contract with @VodafoneUK 😕

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK I kept encountering different people who just had no regard whatsoever for my loss or how simple of a request I made. Never had it in me to go through anything close like that again so haven't bothered to raise a complaint. Never using their services again...

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Sorry to hear this I had an horrendous time trying to cancel a phone contract with Vodafone it took months well nearly a year and they kept saying it was cancelled and then sending me warning letters about unpaid amounts… and they never once said sorry!

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Had a very similar experience with Vodafone when my dad passed. My sister and mother were on the same account, took 2 months to finally cancel it after countless calls and promises. And when they finally did they cancelled it all leaving me unable to contact my grieving family

@VodafoneUK @GeorgeMonbiot So even at this point they direct you to a bot rather than offer a direct phone number or arrange to call you direct. I despair of big corporate customer service.

@VodafoneUK @GeorgeMonbiot One simple phone call should have been enough but its obvious your corporate ethos dictates down the chain of command to extract every last penny from deceased accounts. I would suggest that customers never enter into contracts but have monthly PAYG accounts which simply debit cc

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK There has been a collapse in customer service standards over recent years. COVID was a catalyst, but then companies realised customers were tolerating 1-2 hour waits, and that they could get away with "demand throttling" by understaffing call centres and then pocket the profits.

If that's your idea of an AI-enabled chat service and customer-centric CX @VodafoneUK, you might want to go back to the drawing board. Stuck in a cycling loop between phone and TOBi (who doesn't understand the question) #fail
