@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK I know this won’t help with what has happened with all these truly awful stories but I stopped paying for a contract years ago. Swapped to @giffgaff who have been brilliant. I’ve never looked back, I’d urge everyone to swap to a rolling monthly contract instead.

@DuncanMhor @GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK This happened to me. Cancelled 3 times, paid twice more as thought it was a mistake, then they "couldn't find my account" so we assumed closed. Two years later I went for a mortgage & found I had bad credit history. Took a month to sort out & nearly lost the house we were buying

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK I had a contact with @vodafoneuk that I simply tried to cancel once I passed the minimum term. They made it so very, very difficult that I vowed I’d never go back to them. That was about 20 years ago, and although I’ve flitted between all the others, Vodafone are forever barred.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Their service is shocking. I have spent 4 days trying to sort out a home move they cancelled without telling me but that is nothing compared to your story

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Sorry you're having a rough time George. In my experience @VodafoneUK have some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I won't use them now. Cold comfort, I know.

@VodafoneUK I'm at the end of my contract period yet to cancel I am required to call up (no website/app function to close my account). I've tried many times and been on hold for several hours. I see from Twitter many people have this issue. This is unacceptable customer service

@bmac1906 @GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Call centre should be able to refer you to a bereavement service.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK When I have had trouble with any big corporation I find responding to their latest twitter promo explaining the problem instigates a much faster response then the call centre nonsense.
