@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK They’re awful. My mums had the same phone for 5 years and they make a big deal out of upgrading it. Horrible company

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Awful company! Had exactly the same issue .

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Robust. Hostile. Agressive. They're the buzz words but not when you are buying or in corporate advertising/marketing. Oh and they'll put the phone down on you if you become distressed

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Thats awful. Training around grief, loss, ageing and diminishing capacity is needed at the very least. But I suspect, like you, that this is not some probelm with a few individals, but either a deliberate corporate policy OR a consequence of merciless perfomativity in the culture

@BMubaru @GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK The problem is that some corps don’t have a proper process in place to deal with bereavement. Totally agree that what you’ve said should happen. Sadly, it doesn’t, and it’s not exactly rocket science. I wonder if new high tech companies have never considered customers might die.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Strategy. 1.shut down the bank debit. Prevents financial haemorrhage/fraud 2.Issue first and final letter of dispute with a practical completion time 3.Issue invoices for all time spent at your hourly rate or part there of, plus expenses. 4.30 days to pay or default, then court.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Same prob w tesco mobile and dad w dementia in care home. They need to speak to him. Sky, gas, BT, elec... everyone else was brilliant. Was told they can't cancel his £7 a month phone contract. I said he won't be paying it any more. They said he will get a ccj. Go for it tesco.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK My friend had this several years ago when her husband died; they refused to cancel the contract saying they needed to speak to the account holder. In the end she told them they could, but “they’d have to dig him up first”. Unbelievable 😡

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Mid-sold a contract several years ago and would never use them again. Disgraceful behaviour with deceased relative’s account. Thanks for highlighting these business practice with your platform @GeorgeMonbiot 👍

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK I've never worked 4 Vodafone, but some experience in other customer service jobs. For anyone experiencing similar, maybe try these, no guarantee, but worth a try: send a scan of yr power of attorney, send a scan of the death certificate. Morbid, but may help speed things up.
