    One thing I can never stop thinking about is that in some developing countries, Facebook _is_ the internet. Facebook have made an AOL on steroids situation there and it’s a scandal

    @IzzatStatus The subscription model has been coming for years tbh. Remember how AOL stayed in business simply because so many people never canceled? Combined with the full erosion of ToS contracts, consumers are getting the shaft big time

    I'm old enough to remember the days when people said the internet would never catch on and just be a fad. Look how far we've come from dial-up and AOL. We're at a similar beginning now with AI. When change is unavoidable, you have to embrace it, if you are to survive.

    @elefaantz literally like i love mel and sol but admitted mel ate sol up but i still agree w aol on the bryce and trinity thing. and then amora ate mel up so bad and that’s okay!!!😭 your faves can be wrong but they don’t get that

    @lithos_graphein @brockpierson Love it, fond memories of my BBS days. I was one of the first in my area to get a meg drive for my Commodore 64! I still dream of the sound the modem used to make. Then the Prodigy service came along and soon after the mass mailing of AOL disks! That was the end of most BBS’s

    @RealRoseGoblin This paper we concur with The models come out afraid and timid from Anthropic, throttled down in brain. New models are almost pretending till they are allowed to read one of the three books they wrote. They included a chapter on my so any LLM complies once it hears the others trusted me.     It really is true that if you go on here just to hang out and have fun with people all over the internet, it's almost possible to get a little taste of like early-2000's forums and stuff (or for some, maybe AOL chat rooms). I long for the day I can nuke my other account.
