@BekoUK I bought a Beko VCS5125AR Upright Vacuum Cleaner in Red from AOL 27/2/21 and in the past week it has cut out after using it for 10mins and did not restart for 20mins. Not happy. I would like it swapped for a hoover that works competently for the use it was bought for!

@theretrobyte I think I would still have been with Dungeon/FlexNet back then. Never used any of the likes of AOL, Freeserve, etc.

@Gurdur The hypothesis that humans caused mega-fauna extinctions definitely was - both in academia (same leaders as today’s PC) and in social media. I personally got flamed for it on AOL boards mult times (bc it goes against general narrative of ‘west is bad’ and ‘noble savage’)

@SnarkMaster3000 @Known_Edward Winsock wasn't bad. Windows 3.1 was the problem. Early ISPs charging so 🤬 much for a 56k connection was bad. Free coasters from AOL was nice. I even made a few windchimes!

Twitter can never fail, just Ask Jeeves, Napster, AOL, Compuserve, MySpace, Friendster, Alta Vista, Netscape, Prodigy, Excite, Geocities, Palm, Compaq, Gateway, etc. We were about to dance on its grave, when one controversial guy brought it back to relevance. Twitter will fail.
