@BinnieGlen @alistaircoleman There is a walled garden service (Kwangmyong/光明) available to NK citizens, like a slightly more creepy AOL. Proper internet is for foreigners & researchers only. Taking notes also stops people fiddling with phones in meetings, which is an execution offence in his view, and mine.

Say what you will about the antiquated AOL, but my mom still has an account from the ice age, and we had to call support to get a new password bc she forgot hers. They were super efficient and easy to work with, and even had system for adding backup user to the account.

You’ve Got Mail will always be *great*, and as time passes… maybe even more so? The idea of logging onto the internet vs constantly having that access via a phone, etc is so quaint. And romantic! Like the AOL login tune almost made me cry a little.
