@Meidas_Samantha I was using the social media of the time around 1980. Usenet news. Back then the Internet was created by geeks for geeks. Using it was, in itself, an intelligence test which kept the level of debate up. Then the suits found it and AOL made it easy and the tone went way down.

@Jason_Moorman @arun_richards @JamesADamore Lol true there. Before 230 came along w/ the AOL chatrooms/messenger "cyberbullies". Too bad that **** happened. Now the first ammendment on these "platforms" is pretty much "say whatever we want you to say" or use something else. Yet big tech eliminates all competition. Monopoly

I have one of those password books because i can't remember any of my passwords and i just sat down to organize it and get rid of websites that don't exist anymore (vine?) or kicked me off due to inactivity (aim/aol) anyhoo...I had 187 passwords in the book. All different. WTH???

@southtacoma This is what dying companies do. AOL famously refused to let people cancel, failed to cancel, continued to take direct withdrawals from checking accounts after cancellation, refused to refund. They didn't care about customer service, they were squeezing every last drop.
