@SimonCatRiley Lycos. I remember when Lycos was the best. Then it was outcompeted by AltaVista. I never thought Yahoo was any good, even when it was the most popular one. And AOL's mega-intranet which seemed dated by 2000 but by now a strange precognition of social media.

@Frrancis holy **** yeah. I’m surprised mine didn’t go full Q but I know that’s bc they are about as internet savvy as they were when we got AOL cds in the mail. Both have aol email addresses still. Lmao. Anyway I can’t wait to get tf out of here again, I’m glad you did

@default_friend Great exploration: I cut my teeth online in this weird pocket of AOL called “SWSF” (“SpaceWars Sim Forum”), where die-hards assembled multiple-hundred-page help document rulebooks, item records, etc. I still wonder on occasion what happened to that place

@AOLSupportHelp trying to help someone with an AOL problem. They keep getting the clerk error or too many redirects. Works on phone, but I’ve tried three separate browsers in Windows and no joy. Advice?

@PlanetDr I was just about to finish my freshman year. I remember reading the story over and over on AOL and Yahoo News. It seemed like such a surreal event. If you’d told me back then it would be like this in 23 years I would’ve never believed you.

@BillyM2k It went from talking to friends on the phone, to IMing everyone on AOL, and now back to the phone- texting Bottom line, there is way less in person communication nowadays causing the bullying we see nowadays. There is no repercussion to be an *******.

Like yes I would survive in an AOL chat room because I’d make everyone feel bad for saying slurs and I’d be the last one left in that *****. YALL OLD PEOPLE CANT SURVIVE BEING EDUCATED.
