@adamdavidson I think a lot of reporting around cancel-culture depicts it as primarily consisting of roving mobs finding an AOL message you sent in 1994 calling one of your friends "fatso", and then getting you fired and ostracized as a boy shaming monster. That's not what it is, of course...

  • Darthbx I'm Dr Manhattan. Aka TK-420 🇸🇻🇺🇲🤓😷 (@Darthbx) reported

People really are stupid now. There's a video game where you pretend to be on an AOL style chat. That's the whole game. Read that until it sort of makes sense to you.

(this is how they did it in 2001) * Purchased Secrets of the MUD Wizards at a thrift store. * Disabled AOL internet filter (by creating an adult account) to connect on 23. * Started playing 2 Shattered Realms. [...] * Put up local flyers offering tech support with a phone number.

@PeterSchiff Bitcoin is more like AOL (at best), def not MySpace level. I'm not even sure we've reached MySpace level in crypto yet. You really fail to see how far this space will go.

  • LauraMCoffin Laura Coffin (@LauraMCoffin) reported

@TMobile Maybe while you're at it, get the FAA to stop blocking our cell service. I live under the flight path to a major airport. Internet is spotty and sometimes my phone calls drop because they completely block everything. I think AOL would be better some days.

  • wvville westvirginiaville (@wvville) reported

@deathcon5ive Somewhere, in landfills and the great Pacific Garbage Patch, 10 million AOL CD signup discs rest and swirl for next 10,000 years.

  • caineneal11 The Driver (@caineneal11) reported

@LeiblerAdam @longvuong22 @QwQiao 99% of the population doesn’t care what argument you have. They see a $60 fee to transfer $100 and nope ******** out. If Ethereum doesn’t figure out scalability, it will have the same fate as AOL.
