  • xSarahSolomon Sarah Solomon (@xSarahSolomon) reported from Camberwell, England

AGREED! Every kid except me had nice shiny internet...we were stuck with that shitty AOL dialup that we were only allowed to use to play Cartoon Network games on if we were good 🥴

  • YardleyShooting Mike Yardley (@YardleyShooting) reported from City of London, England

Utterly useless service from AOL/Yahoo/TalkTalk yet again following my complaint reference the breakdown/failure of their systems. So irritating when you pay for a service and don't get it. I was told by a rep ref. AOL: "it's a very old platform.." as if that was an excuse. @AOL

  • 8outof10blog 8/10 (@8outof10blog) reported from Barnet, England

@reece_dinsdale The other two are "Welcome to AOL: you're connected!" and "Goodbye...th-that's it." Damn I need to put these on my new laptop!

@teleject @meyerweb It kinda does though... With MSN Explorer (yes that was a thing in 2001, competing with AOL) we enabled "toast notifications" and the name was because "the little thing popped like the toast on the screensavers." Real toast never does that. It sits there. It sometimes Burns.

@yungcontent And Bebo never sells to AOL

  • YardleyShooting Mike Yardley (@YardleyShooting) reported from City of London, England

I was told by a rep ref. AOL: "it's a very old platform.." as if that was an excuse. If it doesn't work, they shouldn't take my money. @TalkTalk is a useless outfit too. I was called for months by fake Indian call centres after their data hack. My home internet sucks. @AOL @Ofcom

  • dancall Dan Calladine (@dancall) reported from Wandsworth, England

@neilperkin You'd think they could find a fix. This used to happen with all AOL accounts showing up as 'Virginia' 20 years ago!

  • bhutch41 Brian Hutchinson (@bhutch41) reported from Lambeth, England

I’ve been with AOL all my internet life. Just recently it keeps telling me my password is wrong; I put the same password in again & it’s alright for a while. Today emails appear then suddenly vanish, is @AOL trying to dismiss me. Help!

@InaTailHedged My investing has been horrific, scary bad the last few weeks. Excluding buying the next AOL and selling today for profit in celebration of firing 11k at $META

  • Drewcif56150773 Drewcifer (@Drewcif56150773) reported

@CarlosCrits Lolol I still have my original AOL email from the early 2000’s! I mostly use it as a throwaway email to give for discounts and ****.

  • domainophile Domainophile (@domainophile) reported

@karaswisher I'm sticking with "into the ground" a-la MySpace and AOL. Phrase of the month is reverse network effect.

  • Jake13825551 Jake (@Jake13825551) reported

@3YearLetterman @elonmusk Suckerberg invented social media? Damn I guess time before Facebook doesn't exist. MySpace, AOL, MSN messenger... yikers

On May 26th, 2022, @AOLSupportHelp Email Password Generator for Client Programs went down, causing 1000's of customers' problems! Today is November 9th, 2022, and still no fix. So you are either completely incompetent or attempting to push people to a paid system, which is it?

  • dcboyisangry DC Boy (@dcboyisangry) reported

@Helen_Highly Nah, AOL was destined to fail. Apple! They were about to declare bankruptcy in the '97ish. Their stock was junk. I had a couple of grand I was going to invest. I didn't. 🥹

  • Cat_Victim Paul Berk (@Cat_Victim) reported

During the late 80s and 90s, lots of us did pay for a service like Twitter. CompuServe, Prodigy, AOL. I subscribed to the first, and also, locally, ECHO. ECHO was cool. I don't remember anyone declaring, "ECHO should pay me."

  • jdsboston ☁️ JDS ☁️ (@jdsboston) reported

@mfratto @signalapp The most amusing part of this for me is that the people now running signal product roadmap now actually think we're stupid enough to recruit other people to use signal when they've just deadheaded the platform for us. They probably used to work at AOL so they can't help it

  • bgpeters22 Dr. Benjamin Peters (@bgpeters22) reported

@EtherKindling @drboycewatkins1 Well for 1) I was in high school and the only social media we had was AOL and Myspace, 2) I never really cared about her nor did I watch her show, 3) And this is key, she lost a movie role and has publically apologized for the skit. And nobody called her apology buckbreaking
