@SimonCatRiley Lycos. I remember when Lycos was the best. Then it was outcompeted by AltaVista. I never thought Yahoo was any good, even when it was the most popular one. And AOL's mega-intranet which seemed dated by 2000 but by now a strange precognition of social media.

@mapperdan @NellyTells And we only had Linux - black screen green characters. In 1992 AOL became public and a year later sent out packages to help people get online.

@GreatCheshire I missed it entirely, despite being Extremely Online since the days we used AOL CD-ROMs as drink coasters, and I keep getting the vague notion I should go through it just to find out what ******** everyone is on about.

@teemcee Lady problems do suck. Back in the days of AOL instant messenger, a friend’s handle was “Evil *****,” because she wanted to rip hers out and throw them into the sun.

You know specifically that the @BostonGlobe customer service section online looks like it was written for someone who is still using AOL Dial-up service. It is clearly an area they have not invested in in the #DigitalEra. #NotAPriority #6800baudmodem

@MileenaUltra Oh, that’s long lost. I expect big i Internet won’t be around too much longer, I think you’ll see it broken into regional systems so greater control can be exerted. The promise of the Internet has been completely passed away. This is closer to AOL than to 1997 WWW.

@rynhayden So are you using a service for email? Because Juno, Aol, and Yahoo emails are in use by many church people.... and they are all stuck on old SPAM checking protocols... Have fun debugging! :)
