What I don’t understand is I live in rural England, my broad band with @BT was abysmal, slow , problematic and hard to get customer service whereas when we had AOL for years we had no problem / good service and now @SkyUK since 2015, great speed / no problems. Same place!

@JordanWells33 AOL never reached cult fandom around their products like Tesla. Tesla are more like Apple.

Quick side story for a laugh. Most of us know Verizon is selling Yahoo & AOL. My mom called me panicking abt Gmail. She thought it meant Google was being sold too. It took me 15 min calm her down & tell her they had NOTHING to do w/ each other. Lord help! #SaveMacGyver #MacGyver

@RoblemVR In RPO, it's not a single virtual "world", though. Each world is a separate entity.... Other lessons I've learned, is that a single "Oasis" is a generally bad idea, and these worlds need to be open to multiple developers, like a newer, better internet... Not closed, like an AOL.

@MarkJoh37268151 @catturd2 Proudigy, an online service run by IBM and (I think) Sears was a late 80s creation. (I worked at Tymnet (mostly taking care of dialup access points) at the time and they regularly beat me up as modem pool expansion failed to keep up with the growth of AOL and Prodigy.

I’ve been on the internet since Prodigy. 1988-89ish. I was the kid in AOL making hard drives wind up and sounds play. I googled dorked my way into many hearts, I keyword stuffed my way to the top of rankings, I won’t talk about DNS tunneling and bad people. Don’t troll me.
