@cox_tom I decided to cancel my AOL subscription as it didn't work on my Mac. Did it during my work lunch hour. I held my nerve as they passed me on to many different people begging me to stay and offering me the world. 1&1/2 hrs later I succeeded. I had applause from work colleagues!

@RepMTG Put your fukin phone down and do your job. Same with all public servants. Treating your job like it's from a 1990s AOL chat room is embarrassing

  • JoshuaREnglish Uncle Josh (@JoshuaREnglish) reported

Ah the joys of getting my archive terabyte drive up and running again. I have copies of some of my old web pages in there, including 101 Uses for an AOL CD (which in the 90's and early 00's was a problem).

@TeamYouTube @yannispappas lol in response they call on people to flag more videos. Dear YouTube, I’ll be going wherever the comedians decide to go when they get sick of your ****. -remember aol *******.

  • Joeyself Joseph Self (@Joeyself) reported

@RepThomasMassie @LisaMarieBoothe I remember 15-20 years when AOL, Netscape, Yahoo and MySpace were the big things in tech. I am not saying Twitter, Google, Facebook et al will face a similar fate—and I am not saying they won’t. Alienating a large segment of your customer base is a good start to extinction.

@engineers_feed add a layer or two to show compuserve aol etx, i see we were compuserve, they were aol consumersz ... add bbs modems etc, click on that to drill down for histopry of sites by dates, same with www side

  • bombholt Brian Sorensen (@bombholt) reported

@engineers_feed AOL getting access to Usenet was pretty god awful. Give me, give me, give me, me too, me too, me too.

  • GameResearch_E Ethan Johnson (Play History) (@GameResearch_E) reported

Least likely: Sure, AOL fought. But they lost. Most likely: No packaged internet portal gaming service ended up doing well in the long run. All of them failed and the open model of the internet won.

  • JustinHerndon Justin Herndon, APR (@JustinHerndon) reported

Got carded buying some craft beer. Cashier: Can I see your ID? Me: Would you like to know my AOL IM name? Her: Nah, we’re good. Never mind.
