@BinnieGlen @alistaircoleman There is a walled garden service (Kwangmyong/光明) available to NK citizens, like a slightly more creepy AOL. Proper internet is for foreigners & researchers only. Taking notes also stops people fiddling with phones in meetings, which is an execution offence in his view, and mine.

@notcapnamerica I think back to the crazy **** I would say and do and just cringe now. But I am grateful by some weird way of coincidence I ended up meeting my wife thanks to AOL. So for all the bad and crazy I got my wife and kids thanks to AOL so I guess I should be more grateful in the end.

@Animus_Diagolon Damn, does that thing take D batteries? Just kidding, my first pc was a commodore 64. Had a little tape deck. On a side note, there used to be these AOL CDs you could get that would give you a bunch of free hours online. No one in my neighborhood got theirs.

@meowmeow_druid I am but also have trouble saying I'm pan, but I am. There was just nowhere to go or talk to in the 90s/00s. All the meetups were at bars. Chat rooms and forums in the AOL days - understandably - focused on the AIDS crisis. So I just shoved it down. I'm still scared.

@XRPRippleRick @WatcherGuru Henry Blodgett (still around) and Grubman from the dot-com bubble days take the cake. Case who scored with the AOL Time Warner merger before AOL Went South is still active and just wrote a book touting his support for "mid America" local companies.

@TedHope As a wise friend told me long ago, even before AOL most likely, email’s great for staying on top of things, but it sucks at getting to the bottom of them. Still true.
