@Enichan It's probably that. That's also probably why I've never done anything significant in it (altho I was kinda into gobject for a while back when AOL/MSN were around and I was still writing Pidgin plugins... That mighta been pre-vala tho lol...)

  • thatwoman Tarrant (@thatwoman) reported

@JustinMcElroy Oprah ran a “diet club” via message boards on AOL and the news wags were sure it was doomed to fail and that Oprah had stretched too far.

  • EileenKelley20 EMK (@EileenKelley20) reported

@TuckerMtn @catturd2 I had the same issue with my aol email. I then used my Comcast email and the emails came through…..then a day later the aol emails came. I’m just going to use my Comcast. Hope this helps.

  • AnnArborForPete Ann Arbor for Secretary Pete (@AnnArborForPete) reported

@TheStefanSmith So many of those AOL CD-roms went out. We used them as coasters. We put them in the microwave to see what would happen. Never did sign up for AOL.

  • jasonvholmes jasonvholmes.eth (@jasonvholmes) reported

Right now the NFT space is still stuck in the AOL phase. Always putting out new CDs with updates on it. Thinking back, it was horrible and unsafe. Putting random CDs because you assumed this was a legit AOL CD but luckily it was. The true raw dog days of the internet. #NFT #NFTs

  • RabKeyz Rab (@RabKeyz) reported

Wish we could go back to the days of AIM. I’m tired of everyone having all access to me on all these apps. Let me sign in then you can send me a message. #aol #aim #oldschool

  • SnortneyBell courtshootsfilm (@SnortneyBell) reported

@JustinMcElroy Going online used to cost money, but going into an AOL Help chat room was free. So, lots of ppl would go into empty Help chat rooms and fill them up with “a/s/l” messages until an AOL Admin entered the room. Then, we’d all scatter like cockroaches.

  • bobbyseitz Arnold Toadzenegger ⌐◨-◨ 🍌🐸🐶 (@bobbyseitz) reported

@henry0eth @NathanHeadPhoto Agree, that is why something like @LooksRareNFT is so important to support, even though I do not like the wash trading that goes on there. I am old enough to remember Netscape Navigator, AOL Explorer etc...Where are they now? Opensea will crumble like those early giants

  • JessL3d JessL3D (@JessL3d) reported

@hackaday I was on BBS's using an Amiga 1000 and then accessed Genie until I bought a Epson "Multimedia" system. AOL had an internet menu item back in 1993 which got me hooked. I accessed the Detroit Greener and then got Netcom for Internet access and never looked back
