  • A_J_92 Ash❗️ (@A_J_92) reported from Birmingham, England

@ruthm4x @AOL Did you ever hear back from anyone about this further. It really is unbelievable what has happened. What about using @gmail there service is very user friendly not sure about warning though, I thought all providers would of done this, clearly not with @YahooCare

  • Ayrwalker Ayr of the Four Winds (@Ayrwalker) reported from Birmingham, England

@calligraphymmo @Volstatsz @WarcraftDevs @maelfus I’ve never understood the whole idea of “I don’t like it, so neither should you.” Sega Vs. Nintendo died out years ago with AOL chatrooms (HAHA JOKE ON MATURITY HERE) People neee to let it go and be happy that everyone can find their niche and BE HAPPY! Be a Joy Enabler.

I'm looking into Mastodon, and I can't help but realize it's effectively Fidonet with a new paint job and not having to wait 1-5 days for a response. Everything old is new again. If those damned AOL discs come back, though, I'm done.

  • HectorTelloc Hector Telloc (@HectorTelloc) reported

@juju2143 @PlatinumHippy I've had a crazy idea that I been wanting to do for years. A social network that does what your AOL and CompuServe did ages ago. All websites are broken down into Apps that can run on any computer or phone with a single login. It all runs on a pseudo virtual machine.

  • KyleKetsdever Kyle but Thankful 🦃 (@KyleKetsdever) reported

**** social media let’s just go back to AOL Instant Messenger

  • karger David Karger (@karger) reported

@phealthsean @cfiesler @kakape Instance is a needlessly confusing word. Before Gmail nobody had trouble understanding that they could use their email server to send to people on a different email server. Just name some of the mastodon instances "hotmail", "aol", "yahoo", and all will be clear

  • PelletierKC KC Pelletier (@PelletierKC) reported

@Inside_TheRopes My top 5 What if WCW won the war? What if WWE bought out the top WCW contracts from AOL Time Warner during the Invasion? What if Austin never broke his neck? What if Vince was found guilty in the steroid trial? What if Eddie Guerrero hadn't passed so tragically early?

  • pagemelt mel thomas (@pagemelt) reported

and you have to abide by gmail's rules if you don't wanna get kicked off, but crucially: you can email *anyone* with an email address, whether they're on gmail or outlook or whatever ancient aol ****.

  • PicaDelphon Pica Delphon (@PicaDelphon) reported

@ChocoMingo @Firr I will go back to the Old Schooled IM like AOL, Yahoo, The Classics never Die..We just learn to sleep thru the BS years...

  • wjmaggos William Maggot̶s (@wjmaggos) reported

@or_rain @lolennui @AOL why? kinda hard to believe. I'm nowhere near that level and had no problem. Are you trying to run your own instance or just create an account and follow some people?

  • Vizitei Визитей (@Vizitei) reported

2/5 So far he is destroying his investment at a record pace. AOL was nothing by comparison. Alienating Advertisers, Employees and Customer all at the same time doesn't actually represent a "strategy". Maybe to some of the cheering MAGA contingent, but not to people who count.

  • JamieFord Jamie Ford (@JamieFord) reported

Few (if anyone) remembers that the online service, Prodigy, died after it was revealed their algorithms were blocking any mention of their competitor, AOL. This is where Twitter is headed under Elon Musk.
