Victor Meldrew moment! Ordered a new oven from @AOL for delivery today. Given a 7.00am until 7.00pm delivery slot. Rang now will not be delivered until next Sunday. Not informed of anything. Asked the service department about what they can do to correct it! Nothing. Cancelled.

@JohnKennedyEsq GEnie was another. And The Well. I had AOL and CompuServe as well. (Got a local ISP service in '94, Eskimo North, which I still have to this day. These days have broadband with the cable company too of course.) Something I really miss are the old USENET and NNTP News groups. :\

@KevinNaughtonJr The people spreading the "shutdown" rumors are former employees who think they were the ones keeping the company running...from their mom's house. I do believe there is a chance some try to sabotage the network, thus the lockout of the offices. Smart move from Musk. Remember AOL.

@LittleBigPlanet Remember AOL and Compuserve boards, where you had to login with your 33.6K modem, using their Discs and CDs? That's where we should be going again. Societies were less radical and divided back then.
