honestly feels a little bit special to have grown up while the internet was finding its footing and remembering weird **** like collecting AOL free trial CD-ROMs so you could have more internet

  • MisterReborn MisterReborn (@MisterReborn) reported

@SHED_mdrn_lvng Never forget. Gotta sign on to AOL 3.0 free trial to warn all my friends.

  • UserNemesis C R (@UserNemesis) reported

@BigJohn2310 @elevatelabs @PJKosar The result was anyone with the CD only needed to Uninstall and reinstall the CD to get free dialup for life. You can imagine how a rather large group found out and nearly ruined AOL until they switched to high-speed service 2/2

  • zedajaweeya Stub (@zedajaweeya) reported

@jointdocShields Hang up the phone so I can get on AOL.

  • honestpenguin42 the.honest.penguin (@honestpenguin42) reported

@goddesszer0 Same. I lived on tips from 2002-08... but it never made the mid-2000s version of Google newsfeed (namely good 'ol #AOL). Ps, no hate to the first or second oldest professions... or any other for that matter, besides "rando billionaire mogul that buys social media for funsies" lol

  • Breckismyname Breck IAmJane🌻🇺🇦 (@Breckismyname) reported

@RealChrisSays Since most public email servers became available in the mid 90's, I am saying about 30 yrs. I still use 2 of my first accounts. But the initial ones attached to Compuserv, Prodigy, and Netscape no longer exist. I never used AOL except for IMs. Oh, and possibly my Netzero is alive

  • LadybugTrap Stove (@LadybugTrap) reported

@Bot2390 @IcyVert This is pg-13 compared to the wild west days of the internet. I remember logging into AOL to snicker over pictures of ****** then years down the road.

  • mucifous Shutter falls, all in 3-D (@mucifous) reported

Probably the worst part about dealing with the death of my adoptive father (so far) has been trying to use the AOL email interface on his laptop.

  • TheWonkyCube The Wonky Cube (@TheWonkyCube) reported

@CryptoPidgey Is this like the old AOL chain-mails where I receive bad luck if I don’t?
