  • b05crypto Brad Nickel 🇺🇦 - Headed to Permissionless (@b05crypto) reported from West Palm Beach, Florida

Reminder for later: Never have an event in West Palm Beach, Florida. There seems to be nowhere in this town where cellular coverage or WIFI performance is better than 1999 aol dialup. The convention center might as well not have any Internet.

  • jjburroughs_ Jessica Janee’ (@jjburroughs_) reported from West Palm Beach, Florida

    I feel bad - but I CRINGE, H A R D, when l see Yahoo & AOL email accounts. #sorrynotsorry

AOL Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • Theotropho Flow Irrational (@Theotropho) reported

@JaneotN if it crashes down find another social media :) I was sick and homebound for high school years and found my outlet through AOL chatgroups and somethingawful, I've been an internet denizen ever since. The sites come and go, and sometimes the people do too, but WE keep on trucking

  • BigfootFL1 Chief Petty Officer (@BigfootFL1) reported

@CoachSed @GeraldoRivera Really? That's your solution? Do you still have AOL?

  • slugger_555 Mark Mathews (@slugger_555) reported

@aolmail Your App password generator for Mail forwarding has not been working since April 2022. My entire family can not generate passwords for outlook , Thunderbird, etc. Search "aol generate app password not working" many customers have this problem. Fix it.

  • jonbowens Jonathan Owens (@jonbowens) reported

Are we all going back to AOL AIM when Twitter shuts down?

  • MBBarber916 Dissatisfied Bird-app User (@MBBarber916) reported

@mmpadellan If killing short social media was the intent, it was a bad call IMO. Mastodon is v similar but on separate servers, just like the early internet AOL move to multiple email servers. He accelerated a decentralization. We may feel lost now, but give it a few months.

  • BrassMunkieTV BrassMunkie (@BrassMunkieTV) reported

…and it definitely won’t be the last. Compuserv, Prodigy, AOL, INN, various dial up BBS and MUDs, IRC, MySpace, Friendster. Various other smaller communities. All of them have either shut down or are shells of their former popularity. We will endure.

  • arvid_erickson Don't panic (@arvid_erickson) reported

@KevinNaughtonJr Twitter (or Elon) could decide to move the hosting of the service onto a provider (Oracle, AWS, Azure, etc.) as Yahoo (and possibly AOL) did when they were acquired. This removes the hardware aspect, reduces this to a software (SRE/DevOps/DevOpsSec) problem.

  • lyndseyagogo Lyndsey دروبي (@lyndseyagogo) reported

Where are we going after this app goes down in flames? I’m down for a good ol’ fashioned social club. Members Only jackets and our $8 goes towards food/beer at the barbecues. To join, must have Hotmail and AOL email addresses…gotta keep it real.

  • RockJockDavid David Atwood (@RockJockDavid) reported

@elonmusk @AOC You are welcome? As we watch you completely tear it down? So sad. What is going on with Twitter reminds me of what Time Warner did to/with AOL way back when. You are killing the goose......

  • gtoran Gav (@gtoran) reported

@ConanOBrien What’s your AOL screen name incase yahoo goes down?
