@martymadrid @stevenbward @KTmBoyle Marty what’s beautiful is that right as you are is as wrong as what you claim. You have your heart in the right place but imagine that everyone AOL user hates progressives (timing is cute) but also the fact that he just has never cared before

@philly_bernie @Timcast Yeah, I used to frequently throw my hook in the water and give them plenty of line before I brought it home. Until they because so stupid they never accept logic and so toxic and hateful they threaten you But I enjoyed many years of it. Starting on AOL chatboards

  • nothingfromnada Tired (@nothingfromnada) reported

"Eternal September" is the earliest internet Thing I participated in, in that I was a clueless 13 year old posting to Usenet from our AOL account, totally ignorant of the culture and customs. Sorry y'all, it was my bad.

  • PhryDeyy Phrydey (@PhryDeyy) reported

Question though, If your thinking about leaving twitter, where would you go? Facebook? Myspace? AOL Chatrooms? Blackplanet? . . I know damn well y'all not going nowhere.

  • ryaninmpls Ryan in Minneapolis (@ryaninmpls) reported

@webster yeah because that was never abused… ever. I vaguely remember it but it only worked on native AIM users — not those with mobility configured or coming out of AOL

  • AnimaGnostikos Anarcho-JazzGoth (@AnimaGnostikos) reported

@JeffreyKaine @techwraith @davidhoang Back in my day, we paid for AOL 3.0 *by the minute* and it was a damn sight better than today's Internet. A *damn sight!*

  • AuntyAlias AuntyAlias - Artist, Astrologer, Author (@AuntyAlias) reported

@MyBestestThing I came off of welfare w/2 kids & beat out other candidates cuz I knew what a java applet was. All my AOL stock split & doubled a handful of times. As soon as it vested, I bought used computers from UC Berkeley to give to my poor friends. Got friends off of aid too. No complaints.

(Gather round, children, for you see Usenet was a network of forums that developed on the very early 1980s internet. It had a tight-knit culture of academics and enthusiasts. Then AOL added Usenet service in 1993 and a bunch of clueless yahoos wrecked the place /
