Brad Nickel 🇺🇦 - Headed to Permissionless (@b05crypto) reported from West Palm Beach, FloridaReminder for later: Never have an event in West Palm Beach, Florida. There seems to be nowhere in this town where cellular coverage or WIFI performance is better than 1999 aol dialup. The convention center might as well not have any Internet.

Jin (@jinzurei) reportedAOL-Time Warner was the dot-com era’s worst mistake, but PlayStation's war on user ownership is gaming's equivalent: a colossal waste vaporizing trust for control, proving that destroying consumer rights is just a brain-dead business model that burns investors every time 🤦
-
Mossin Nagant (@MossinNagant) reported@unusual_whales You don't issue $60 billion in equity for a code editor unless you privately know your own paper is wildly overvalued. The AOL playbook never really dies.
-
Eric Amell (@eric_amell) reported@llandoniffirg 18, unless you count a word processor typewriter as a typewriter then 19. I purposefully never had an AOL account. I remember when the AO-HELLERS first came online back before the web; the days of Archie, ELM, Veronica, and chat boards. I'd have added BBS to the list though.
-
Jamie (@jamielyn0127) reported@zedamex @el_mesa @RinoTheBouncer That still requires players to have a strong enough internet connection to do these things. What do you propose people in rural areas with poor or zero home internet access should do? AOL shut down back in Sept 2025 which was one of the few options rural families rely on.
-
Marc Hoag (@MarcHoag) reported@RaminNasibov Does AOL count? Or BBS? Never did much with the latter, but plenty with the former. I also vaguely remember my dad had a CompuServe account. Email addresses were basically a string of numbers as I recall.
-
Levity (@LevityODonnell) reported@ThreeUK Sort your **** mobile broadband network out in South Manchester. I had better service with my AOL rom disc and dial up in Y2K.
-
Tesh (@Sate34) reported@AvaVtuber_ 18 and I'm 42. Never hadanAOL address or a water bed. I did have an AOL screen name.
