@BFriedmanDC That was true of AOL and Netscape at earlier times. Twitter will be forgotten two weeks after it inevitably shuts down. There are lots more smart people. @elonmusk

  • BigmanLi KuremaSan (@BigmanLi) reported

@chang_koo @Noahpinion If you used AIM you a) knew you didn't need AOL to use it and b) already had internet service. On the off chance you wanted to make the switch, you'd start with the free trial and think better of it.

Back in the day when email became popular, America Online (AOL), Hotmail & Yahoo competed heavily. Eventually I ended up having so many emails that it took an hr every day just to check my mail. And frankly, one was as bad as the next. Not going to do that with social media!

@AirlineFlyer Twitter may implode but it would be because Musk's changes made the platform too much a hassle to use or because a better platform came along to displace it (leaving Musk holding a 40b pile of goo and displacing the AOL/TW merger as the worst business decision in tech history)

@NFLDw @FalcoholicMatt Remember when MySpace was the **** then it wasn't. AOL used to be the go to for email. Remember the "you got mail" notifications on your desktop computer. That's how Iook at Twitter. Twitter offers nothingb that another app can't recreate.

@CourtAnne1225 Clemson is right there as well. I had no clue Tennessee fans were this bad because they haven’t been relevant since the AOL days.

  • SamRorie1 Sam Rorie (@SamRorie1) reported

@doomcock @_fett4hire In the olden days of dial-up with a true service, I got 55 out of 56K speed. When I installed AOL on my computer, it dropped to 21K. Go ahead and give Omnivac internet access via a computer that runs Windows 98 with AOL installed. Santa would have granted his wish...

@emmanem_93 @GHGeneralTruth On the AOL forums, we used to call her The Siren. In hindsight, her character dragged the show down to the point of no return, but Sarah Brown was a damn revelation. One of the best soap actresses ever.
