  • xkot Scott Erickson (@xkot) reported from Schertz, Texas

Companies dragging their feet on deplatforming bigoted harassment is deja vu. I worked at AOL when they were slow to act on child porn trading. It took @crimmins testifying to Congress about their negligence to get them to act. Let me tell you what that was like.

  • MusicByInferno Inferno S💿unds (@MusicByInferno) reported from San Antonio, Texas

This world sucks when we have to censor ourselves. Get banned for almost everything these days. I miss Myspace and AOL lol bring back the chat rooms.

@BlaiseInKC ... IF you got reports, that ponderosa is still operating in those areas, they must’ve used a dial up service like AOL or EarthLink

  • YaBoyChaley Charlie (@YaBoyChaley) reported from San Antonio, Texas

@MrDane1982 He's alright. Just disappointed he's not a member of the Cincy Big Red Machine, or playing with Yaz, Reggie Jackson NYC, or ensemble to Led Zepp, or w the Stones. Bought stock in MSFT, AAPL, Netscape, AOL, #YouTube #Fortnite Dude you ******* idiot!!#&@*!!!!!"

  • seismic007 Star Lord Quill II (aka Jeff) (@seismic007) reported from San Antonio, Texas

@seneca It truly pains me to be this cynical. I realize how many of my “problems” didn’t exist until AOL. And have just grown worse since then.

  • HowYouCanCrypto LP (@HowYouCanCrypto) reported

@ColinStuckert A lot of people also bet on AOL, Blockbuster, and thought they would never go away... Bitcoin will fade and be replaced by better technology, protocols, code, etc... all of history goes this way.

  • Prepperbone Prepperbone (@Prepperbone) reported

@NateoftheNorth So bad! The subscription model sucks and I hate it. I won't do it unless they provide a button to cancel on the account page or some easy way. Forcing people to call gives me PTSD remembering trying to cancel AOL lol

  • rseymour Rich Seymour (@rseymour) reported

@halvarflake Geocities seems like the closest thing to foretelling our present to some extent. Not to mention compuserve, aol and prodigy. I still hope the pendulum will swing the other way, but diaspora for instance never caught on.

  • RationalImpact RationalImpact ☄ (@RationalImpact) reported

@Amy022110 Oh you poor thing that sounds terrible!😭Though I'm old enough to remember that dial up ring and AOL. Honestly hard to imagine growing up without all that, though I am glad social media didn't become as huge as it is now until the end of highschool for me. I did have a childhood!

  • allenslloyd Allen Lloyd (@allenslloyd) reported

No concurrent sessions???? Who tested this garbage? I might switch all my services to AOL messenger for a better experience.

  • Ben_Steiner 北海道 Hillbilly / Ben Steiner (@Ben_Steiner) reported

@TBeanpod @JackOnSkates @chanclatrix Somebody never hung out on AOL or Yahoo Chat in the early days of Al Gore's interweb super highway...

  • Richard28319722 Richard Cooper (@Richard28319722) reported

@AOL Twenty years, Hundreds of billions in equipment & training, aircraft, tanks, artillery, a 300,000 man army...and yet all of that was defeated within 6 weeks by a few thousand goat herders with Vietnam era weapons. Talaban could not have done this unless it had popular support.

  • ComradeDonLeon CommissarTrotsky (@ComradeDonLeon) reported

@tomhallsep @WSWS_Updates I had an AOL dial-up account in 1996. With a Mac SE. Web sites were even far more primitive then. And extremely slow.

  • FracturedBadger Fractured Badger (@FracturedBadger) reported

@jamieforeals Damn, I got stuck with the 5 week trial through AOL. FML

  • Sable4TheHOF Sable 4 The Hall Of Fame (@Sable4TheHOF) reported

For me personally there was no ZOOM or anything like that and me and my ex were GARBAGE on the phone. We talked through AOL Messenger. So that doesn't necessarily mean anything. #Catfish
