20 years ago i was sitting next to my cousin using our aol dial up. she said "yay the internet connected" and then immediately after "aaliyah died...." i'll never forget. i was so happy. and then so sad.

the internet bubble of the mid to late 90's lasted YEARS... (i was there) why? because real adoption was slow. @AOL cookie cut half the population into their own UI version of the Internet and everyone thought that was it. (See @nbatopshot, @veve_official) We are so early.

oh, and our dialup service at the time was AOL And now that I mention that, it occurs to me that his wasn't the dial-up computer; mine was. I remember seeing the AOL icon in my tray all the time
