Braid-Tug (@BraidTug) reported from Bedford, Texas@HagneSanti @brother_Buddha @MarcelleX It has some history from the AoL not in the books. Is more a culture read. Less encyclopedia. Also, disappointing art. Artist got rushed by contract changes. So I feel bad for them, but still don't like the character art.

JaKBaLL_TV (@ViDJaKzZ) reported@ComputerLove_ yeah we signed up with AOL back then, in 93.. then a few years later we tried to cancel, and they didn't actually cancel our account, and kept f**king charging us monthly for the service! idiots

DAD.PRG - making BombBloke (@code_wizard_uk) reportedA truly profound memberberries post. Nobody ever used Winamp. It was so niche. Along with ICQ, MSN, AOL dialup and burning CDs with Nero and being annoyed at how often they screwed up. All of those things are so niche they could never possibly be used for engagement farming.

Digital ₳utonomous Conductor (@AssetConductor) reported@Kalshi_Crypto Most AI companies won’t get the AOL style graceful exit Netscape did. They’ll just… fade & fail.

exQUIZitely 🕹️ (@exQUIZitely) reportedAOL was once worth more than Nvidia, McDonald's, Apple, Amazon, General Motors, Starbucks, Adobe, Nokia, and Disney - combined! It was the world's #1 Internet Service Provider and mailed a billion free trial CDs. You'd find them tucked into cereal boxes, magazines, and airplane seat pockets. At one point, half of all CDs produced on Earth are AOL discs. Once the biggest merger in history (AOL/Time Warner), now a mere glimpse on the radar...

BROOKLYN RAISED ME (@Enrique42888788) reported@SledFlips @sanFetizo @BGNHoops I've been a Knicks fan since AOL and dial-up Internet was a thing. Literally decades before Twitter was even a thought. Of course, if you take away a great stretch of shooting against Harden, the shooting % will go down. But that’s not how basketball analytics works lol

Gerald Thompkins (@notaracistbigot) reported@Switchblade97 @smolek WCW was worth $70M with those privileged slots AND the bloated contracts. If AOL relented on allowing wrestling but WCW were required to renegotiate the TV deals to market rate, it's not worth $70M WWF paid $4M because they were weren't required to take on the bad contracts

Today in Tech History (@TodayInTechHist) reported@chucktodd They were successful because they pivoted so well. They started as an online gaming store for Atari, but learned from each failure and found the real customer need. Learn the AOL origin story in today’s thread

HobbyBroadcaster (@HobbyBroadcastr) reported@cultofmac ... and who remembers eWorld, Apple's service that ran software remarkably similar to AOL?

Gina Dawn (@GinaDawn2015) reported@AOL "Three hot car deaths reported in US within 48 hours" These babies are now with God. They never belonged to these pathetic "parents."
