@AriDavidPaul Yes, & making Crypto into email-quality ubiquity is a ways off. Iterations (Arpanet->compuserve/mciMail->AOL/Prodigy->yahoo/hotmail->Gmail) drove incremental improvements, took >5 years, even w/ more people focused on more acute problems before grandma-ready

  • daniel_clift_ DC (@daniel_clift_) reported from Austin, Texas

I also found out, that he was lying to me and he had an AOL account that he STILL USES TODAY. He just didn’t want the spam and gave it me, damn... I got played...

Somehow some skater dude I was all 🤤 over found me in an aol chat room and then asked me to be his gf. My dumbass said yes and then when I saw him in school the next day he was an ******* to me.😒

  • jvfriedman Pumpkin Spice Must Flow (@jvfriedman) reported from Austin, Texas

I remember reading Ender's Game in 1995 when my frame of reference was AOL and my school's internal BBS. The concept of a Locke or Demosthenes coming from the Seventeen message board on AOL was inconceivable. I'm sure many of those girls are now Q, so what ******** did I know?

  • MatthewEJohns10 Matthew E. Johnson (@MatthewEJohns10) reported from Austin, Texas

@Angelina_JolieV Yahoo in Austin. Try AOL or Yahoo to help control YOU TUBE or TWITTER.

  • yakshavers Maria Einhorn ✊🏼 (@yakshavers) reported from Austin, Texas

@castalia444 @BrandonStraka Nice talking point lifted directly from whatever AOL chat room you MAGATs hang around in.

  • dtoddsmith D. Todd Smith (@dtoddsmith) reported from Lost Creek, Texas

I will never understand lawyers who use Gmail and the like (or worse yet, AOL) for their professional email addresses. It’s super easy to get a custom URL and inexpensive to run email through that address.

  • MatthewEJohns10 Matthew E. Johnson (@MatthewEJohns10) reported from Austin, Texas

@imgur What this guy does, is open my AOL and then tag friends in Facebook. Gets pretty stupid looking.

  • wright_laron LaRon Wright (@wright_laron) reported from Austin, Texas

I need COD to chill on the advertisement of other COD ****, I’m too ******* old to navigate that ****, gimme the AOL version of the game.

These fake emails sent to an @AOL account that isn’t even legit…these Filters evidently are not working on @gmail and I damn near Want to just close the whole account from it. It’s so spammy & nothing is being done, even with me using filters & blocking stuff.

  • GoblinTenebre Jonathan Bannister (@GoblinTenebre) reported

But there's very few parties anymore and I'll go months between IRL friend hang outs. I text with people daily but yeah. I think I cling to social media because it's really all I have these days. I mostly just hang out in twitch chat rooms for that old school vibe of AOL chatting

  • k_huntington K. Huntington (@k_huntington) reported

@TheAshenLuca i've connected to the sacred symbols discord, but i mostly don't like the service. i'd rather use forums than a giant aol chat room. this isn't 1998 any more.

  • KellyDLz Kelly DL (@KellyDLz) reported

@slw7807 @901Lulu Really?? Hummm I'm going to look for it! Tysm I missed a lot Medical issues & poor reception at the hospital I swear I still hear AOL dial up noises there lol it's hard to keep up on crazy days TY!!

  • LonelyTylenols Lonely Tylenol (@LonelyTylenols) reported

@redpillx2 @Timcast That was one of the reasons it had to have a law put in place ya. It was a catch-22 at the time. The Zeran v AOL case was arguing inaction in removing content was a problem. Other cases argued that removing cases constituted moderation and thus made them a publisher. ConvolutedAF

  • AdamRRall Adam Rall 🇺🇸 (@AdamRRall) reported

@BowTiedOx This year I’ve used the TreasuryDirect site probably 50 times working with clients because of I bond rates and every time I feel like I’ve been teleported back to my childhood in the 90s. They *just* updated the landing page but everything past login is AOL-era.

  • wmoyer650 Fodder650 (@wmoyer650) reported

Sometimes you just find that one tech support issue that pushes you over the edge. Im working on it. It's reminding me that it can't be worse than AOL support, which I did, but its close.

  • LCvonHessen LC von Hessen 💀 (@LCvonHessen) reported

@datalore66 Completely random but I'm reminded that my terrible emotionally abusive metalhead first boyfriend's AOL screen name when we met was "Exumed666" or something like that and I was embarrassed for him that he left out the H

  • SeriouslyOMGWTF SeriouslyOMGWTF (@SeriouslyOMGWTF) reported

AMC Networks' new head quit after 3 months. They need to focus on their app to deliver their content, but it is the worst app. It is like having AOL 2.1 in 2022. Maybe they wouldn't be struggling if they had a better app and customer service. @AMC_TV @AMCPlus

  • TinyRichards420 TinyRichards (@TinyRichards420) reported

@RetroActive80s I am so sorry you had to see that at least we are funny about it. I don’t get upset. I had AOL dial up chat rooms to toughen me up. I am an OG troll. Im here for it. But damn over a game? *cackles* wow touch some grass & vagina
