@justicar I think that’s the only way it takes off. Without an ecosystem that supports a broad and diverse way for people to engage, it’s just prodigy/compuserve/aol again. Having 25 different texting services sucks but it works bc of low overhead. That won’t fly with increased immersion.

Its sad that we as us citizens have to enumerate when our rights apply and its up to a Rich man to buy back freedom on one platform. @TheCryptoLark No Lark, you just mislead people constantly that 1MB slow runtimes, #Bitcoin Core has any value whatsoever. Imagine if AOL email client in 1999 hashed their global server with 1MB blocks ?? Nobody wants to buy #Core

AOL was so censorious at their height that they literally blocked IPs and URLs to sites providing information on how to cancel your AOL account (and these sites existed because of how hard AOL made it TO cancel your account)

@johncutlefish This has always been, back in AOL days my coapprentice, another friend and i teamed up and set up a group date for a number of married cheating men. Even typing with 10 fingers and the other two reading it was v hard to keep up with the messages. My DMs will never be open.

@markflowchatter I don't know if AOL/TWX is applicable. Chronic care management is big with employers. The issue is the Livongo/@GlenTullman model is that you get paid for the employees you sign up and engage, rather than a flat fee. It's value-based care. Growth isn't a gimme - it takes work.

@andysduck @benshapiro Back when AOL was a thing, we had chats that were moderated. If you cussed, had any porn links, or just acted like an idiot - you got kicked out. I think most of us are okay with that. What @elonmusk is proposing is something (I think) along those same lines.
