@seneca It truly pains me to be this cynical. I realize how many of my “problems” didn’t exist until AOL. And have just grown worse since then.

  • YaBoyChaley Charlie (@YaBoyChaley) reported from San Antonio, Texas

@MrDane1982 He's alright. Just disappointed he's not a member of the Cincy Big Red Machine, or playing with Yaz, Reggie Jackson NYC, or ensemble to Led Zepp, or w the Stones. Bought stock in MSFT, AAPL, Netscape, AOL, #YouTube #Fortnite Dude you ******* idiot!!#&@*!!!!!"

@MichaelPasture @SandwichOfEarl @michael_saylor Network effect seems like a bad argument to me. There are several examples to point to. MySpace, AOL, etc. I disagree that the cost in energy is justified IF there are viable options that are one million times more energy efficient. Admittedly, I highly value the environment.

  • FinnishArmy FinnishArmy (@FinnishArmy) reported

@SinisterPixeLP @CoolerMaster I only have Epic for Borderlands. Steam calls are terrible, Teamspeak feels like AOL to me.

  • darthbender Ryan #BlackLivesMatter (@darthbender) reported

@jasonsvance I don’t remember AOL actively trying to **** up countries.

  • the_m4a Michael Fourre (@the_m4a) reported

@zarchasmpgmr @CarmenCrincoli Would that make a difference in connecting to remote-side modems? I don't know enough about that... local (in-state, diff area code) MSN numbers, fail to connect. local AoL number (IIRC - free CD was 1-800, but you'd get referred to local) and cross-country MSN, connect.

  • ClassyRoyalTee Tameka (@ClassyRoyalTee) reported

@DrCABerry I had a cellophone at 9 for emergency only 👀 but I was using AOL all the point 0s IMs AIM

  • TravisAnything Travis (@TravisAnything) reported

I wanna go back to the days when AOL Keywords were a thing, not because that was convenient or anything, I just think we can all agree that 1999 was a **** ton better than 2021..

  • economi73112490 @economist (@economi73112490) reported

@BackpackerFI Hands down AOL buying TimeWarner - genius AOL used the irrational valuation of its doomed business to buy content before the market figured it out.

  • the_m4a Michael Fourre (@the_m4a) reported

@CarmenCrincoli this reminded me of my "worst customer" because I still don't know what the issue is: She would call her local MSN number and the modem would fail to connect. Beeps, tones, nothing. At one point we tried MSN number in CA. It connected fine. Had her try local AOL. Worked fine.

@slpnix One of my friends / schoolmates wrote naim (started as an AOL IM client but became a really nice IRC console client), I used to use that, either locally or on remote console. Looks like there's 4 CLI matrix clients including weechat support.

  • hueythewookiee Hugh Campbell #maskup #getvaccinated (@hueythewookiee) reported

@kyliebytes It was bad way back in the Prodigy/AOL days too. I feel the pain and struggle having lived it a long time ago at in a world 2800bps dail-up away...
